Wow, I'm glad he won. Graphic Design internships often turn into unpaid slavery so it is definitely nice for a change to hear someone starting out in that rugged field is going to get some extra pocket money.

So basically this guy now has as much power as a server admin and will get a tiny % of income from a likely underselling and cheap mobile game?

I feel bad for Bryan Henderson. He won which was cool and I congratulate him for it but at the same time I have a bad feeling that people who also really wanted to win or sunk a lot of time into it are going to be angry at him and may either try and get back at him or not buy Godus just to make sure he doesn't gain any money from their sales.

I think it would be pretty cool if other developers did this too. It would be a pretty good way to advertise a game.
They have little right to be angry. This was a social experiment; a glorified method of obtaining a random person. My mum chipped away on Curiosity. I had a short conversation after it had been finished discussing how interesting it would have been to have someone like her (not a gamer) dictating rules on a God based game.

In that respect I think an everyman like Bryan will make for a more interesting addition to the game over a hardcore Molyneux supporter/gamer.

I wouldn't exactly call it advertising, as we didn't know it was tied to Godus until it, well, finished. But I agree we should be seeing more things like this.
I know. I tend to be pretty pessimistic and expect bad things to happen in most situations. I could see Valve doing something like this which I think would be cool. It makes me wonder how a developer could promote a game with it but at the same time keep the reward a secret. They would have to have a payoff as good as or better than this I would think.

Well, I still have no problem with this. The point of it was so that anyone could win- I think Molyneux even said that this could happen, and he was alright with that. Whoever you are or whatever you play, it's a great prize. Depending on sales, it could very well be life-changing.

I could imagine that a lot of fans will be mad, but this guy seems worthy enough to take the mantel of the God of Godus.

He also seems a bit humble- saying he didn't feel it was fair that he won- I think he'll be alright.

However, even though I don't have a problem with him liking mostly action games, it will be problematic if he tries to incorporate action features into a strategic game.

"I haven't played any of [Molyneux's] previous games but I have always wanted to try Fable."

Poor kid does not know what he is in for...

This is neat.

Personally, I downloaded Curiosity to my phone shortly after release, and couldn't get it to run. Pretty much stopped caring at that point. It'll be interesting to see what kind of influence a guy who seems to be mostly into shooters will have over a strategic God Sim.
I downloaded it to my iPhone, that's exactly what happened to me, it wouldn't run so I figured I'd better play something else lol I remember the reviews section of the app store was full of people complaining the game/experiment wouldn't run :( I'm happy for this guy though, I wasn't going to keep chipping away anyway (I know I would have sopped a few days after download, if that hahaha)...

The one thing that leaves me in amazement is that one can be so connected in this world, be apart of a large community that spread info like a flu virus... and I never even heard of this until now.

I mean, I guess I would have liked to try this. And if it's a shared thing, so many people must be upset that some random kid downloaded it a night before when you helped spend weeks, even I'm guessing months breaking it down from the beginning (checking wiki says it was released 6 November 2012... so the most dedicated spent seven months up until this time). So... Ouch.

How amusing, I was wondering what would happen if this very situation came about when I watched the winner video. Then again I doubt anyone but the most hardcore Molyneux fans would know about Godus anyway, what with it being a Kickstarter thing and not a triple A in-your-face-title.

Peter Molyneux just disappointed everyone without even releasing a game, pretty impressive.

I've been kicking myself for the past few days. I got distracted by Arrested Development when I knew that Curiosity was ending soon. I wasn't to sad because I figured maybe this kid deserved it in some way. Now this kid won when he just downloaded Curiosity right before it was over. I think I'm done with Molyneux, I enjoyed some of his older stuff, but I'm just so freaking tired of all this crap.

Good job Molyneux, you proved that you can in fact isolate fans through a silly social experiment.

So what does religion have to do with this?
its a god game so I imagine a fair bit (^_^)
Aren't all games sort of a "god" game anyway? We control our little avatar within the programmed parameters. But I meant, what does hacking at a cube have to do with religion, but now as a follow up, given that the "grand prize" is having the winner appear as a fictional god in a work of fiction, what role does real life religion play on this?

I mean, what does it matter what religion the boy is, if any, and how would that shape the award... why was the question even asked?

It is like winning a copy of GTA5 and asking the winner "so, how do you like pimping your hookers, enjoy running them over?"
