"if you have to ask, you can't afford it"?

Are you kidding? Those specs are relatively ancient. Cool chassis, until you get dust near it.

And whilst we're on the subject

i7 2600K @ 4.2GHz
SLi Palit GTX 580
8GB Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz
P67 Sabertooth
Silverstone 850W Gold
60GB SSD
2TB HDD
....that is amazing.

Your jaw will need picking up.

oh yeah, those are old photos before the second gpu was put in, but you get the idea.

Ok my complaint is not the guts. (though they are not really all that impressive)

My complaint is that the case, the spider form, Is an off the rack case. I saw this on Newegg a couple years back when I was shopping for my antivenom csse.

So, basically what you have here is a good, not great computer, where the owner added 2 antennas for fangs and 2 fans for eyes.

I mean I get it, its a spider case. But the case itself was mass produced. And the Mod of adding 2 LED fans is really not all that impressive considering there should be at the very least 2 fan plugs on the board where this thing basically needs no fans.

Nice try, Its nice to actually see what that case looks like fully functioning, but call me when we get a cylon sex bot up and running, kthxbai

Sheesh, you people and your "jobs"

I spent WAY WAY WAY too much on my rig, only for it to be obsolete already. Oh well.

I had a RAM problem for a while - I was idling around 70% utilization of 4gb - and one day it drops to 35% ute. I assume it has to do with me searching newegg for new memory the night before. :)

I don't feel that what I have kicking around inside my case is going to be "obsolete" meaning "unusable" in at least 10 years. Bigger Ram dimms and a bigger PSU are all I need to keep a 2600K at peak performance.

Me: Wow, that's pretty cool. I wonder what funny and interesting comments people will make. *Reads the comments on the thread* .....wow, is a pre-requisite of being a PC gamer a drive for constant dick-measuring and a loss of a sense of fun?

Yes, the tech's outdated, but it's a cool mod. Here's hoping the thing never gains sentience and decide to kill us all.
It's not even a mod its a lian li test bed, and a rather ugly heat sink by thermal take

http://www.lian-li.com/v2/en/product/product06.php?pr_index=523&cl_index=1&sc_index=26&ss_index=127

http://www.thermaltakeusa.com/Product.aspx?C=1153&ID=1586

It's just a redundant heat sink on an inappropriate case. Not a mod.

Edit: Not to mention both of the items mentioned above have been out for at least a couple of years.

Its really not that impressive I have the very same testing bench sitting in my spare room. Its nothing new and not worth a bloody article.

Way to fail at finding a story.

I love these custom builds, unfortunately I can't have one as my gerbils like to make a lot of mess which would get into the ventilation system. I do fancy making a fishtank submersed pc one day soon :D

3.2GHz Quad-core AMD Phenom II X4 955
12GB DDR3 RAM (don't ask)
180GB SSD
1TB HDD (plus an additional 1TB external as back-up)
Radeon HD 6970 2GB GPU
650 Watt PSU

All I need now is a decent set of fans (mine at the moment are far too loud), then I should be set for a good few years.
Intel i7 930 2.8 (OC 4.0)
6GB DDR3 Ram
1TB HDD
GTX 470 x2
750 Watt PSU

I know you said don't ask, but why 12 gigs of ram? :p
Holy shit, that's one big penis.

lol. bullshit

3way sli doesnt work with 590 and your mobo only supports two way sli.

Your mobo only supports ram with up to 1600mhz so 2133mhz wouldnt work.

My old computer that I replaced a year ago is comparable to this...Actually no, my old computer has an actual video card, so it's better muscle wise.

The computer looks like a mechanical bug thing. That's cool! Focus on that. You don't need to pretend like it is some computational beast to be cool. Hell, when you're modding it up that much, I can't blame you for useing the dirt cheap parts the first do-around.

Although come on, really, integrated graphics? Even if your mainly making it look cool, it's at least worth it to find the space for a bloody graphics card. At least then you could say that it at least RUNS Crysis 2.

But outside of that pet peeve yeah, that's pretty nifty.

My mobo supports upto 2200mhz OC however due to the CPU behavior it runs at 2133hmz, so the ram works fines. I run 2 590's in Sli and have one for physX rendering.

So get your facts straight

Sorry for the ram part, the website I checked your mobo didnt list any mhz over 1600.

You're the first person that I've ever seen write about 3 way sli when one of the cards are running on a x4 pciE and its a physX dedicated card. That is almost like me saying that I got 3way sli since my cpu can do physx aswell.

Why you wouldn't just SLI 3x GTX 580 is beyond me.

One of the reasons could be that 1155 mobos have a very limited amount of PCI express x8/x16 slots and therefor you would pretty much only be able to use 2x 580.

Cause Im pretty sure PCI E x4 will bottleneck the gpu a lot.

no as in, 2x GTX 580 scale better than 2x GTX 590, are cheaper, easier on the PSU and can do all the physX in the world.

EDit: and with a decent 2600K (1155 socket remember), you can OC the CPU to deal with anything a GPU does. And btw, even 4x PCIE is fine, once you get there, you're already using a shitload of GPU hardware and you won't notice the diffrence between x4 x8 and x16.
