It's a british tabloid, what do you expect? This is why we're always annoyed when you post stories sourced from The Daily Mail.

About damn time someone was taken to task for this kind of bullshit.

Remember when Fox did the same thing a few years ago with Mass Effect?
Personally, I think Bioware would have been well within their rights to sue Fox News for slander and irresponsible/unethical journalism.

Yay for responsible journalism. Outrage vs. truth. Which brings in the eyeballs/change?

Sadly, this type of nonsense is rarely limited to bashing the gaming industry. Is it any wonder this generation turns to things like The Daily Show as a source of news?

Daily Star = UK Version of Fox News?
No, that would be The Sun - A newspaper which, if I recall, had a cover story about how "Emo" was a dangerous new cult. That being said, the Daily Star, the Daily Express (Princess Diana Times), The Mirror and the Daily Sport are all trash mags under the guise of news.
Actually the emo story was the Daily Mail, I know because that was the article that lost them my custom.
Yeah, some one has already corrected me on that. I couldn't remember which one it was because let's face it, practically all British Newspapers meld together into a big pile of lies and shittyness.

That is quite disgusting, really.
They even upset the poor old grandmother of the victim.
I hope the people who made this up lose their jobs.

Good to see the British tabloid media is still the shining example of responsible journalism that we have come to expect!

It's a shame really that nothing will ever come of this straight up fabrication, I wish the gaming industry had pressure groups and lobbyists that would sue over something like this.

The sad thing is, this is pretty much British newspapers attitude towards the game industries summed up in one article. I have yet to see any newspaper or magazine (outside of proper gaming and media ones obviously) be even neutral towards the games industry; it's all negative hyperbole.

If I can find the video of the UK chat show where they interview the games journalist and some other people I'll post it. It's depressing.

EDIT: Ah ha! I found the funny version to make it slightly less depressing.

Surprisingly the telegraph is good for games.

Well it'd not like anyone reads the paper anyway. Like the sun you only buy it for the boobs.
Yeah, we have porn sites for boobs. So those evil fuckers [HEADING=1] WHO LIED ABOUT HOW SCOUSERS LIKE MYSELF ROBBED AND DESECRATED BODIES AT HILLSBOROUGH[/HEADING] don't even get that.

I don't think people are so offended by him making up entirely a video game, most of us are hardened to the 'fact' that videogames are somewhere between Gary Glitter and Hitler on the evil scale, as far as newspapers are concerned...

It's more that he makes it up, then goes to Moat's grandmother, who was shot by him, and recently bereaved, and goes and tells her people are trying to make money off her misery.

Which is all true, except it was the Daily Star, not Rockstar, trying to profit off a tragedy.

He seems to think that gamers are only offended that he made up the video game.

honestly, if they can afford to send someone to get a quote, they could have afforded another pair of tits to print instead and saved all this.
