I think its fair to say that you can't tar them all with the same brush its just a shame most encounters people have with them tend to be unpleasent .

This race took place not too far from where i live and last night in the pub i overheard some of the people who were at the 'race' saying how they were such hard men.

Just because you find something offensive it doesn't mean it's wrong, perhaps it is your reaction that is wrong.

OT: The traveller community gets such bad press here in England I don't know what to think of them as a whole. Especially seen as the very few brief encounters I've had with travellers would seem to support the sensationalist viewpoint.

when anyone form ireland or the uk refers to knackers or travelers, gypsies is the more common incorrect term think trailer trash rednecks but caravans.


and when traveler families start a grudge (every few years) it gets ugly.
my uncle showed me a clip of a burning van, apparently some travelers were going door to door selling puppies when a rival family pulled up and drew shotguns, SHOTGUNS! the puppy sellers fled and the rivals set the van on fire (puppies still inside) all this happened 15 feet from his door, just imagine if my young cousins were in the garden .

I see this pretty much every day considering I live next to a small group of travellers. Apart from almost causing accidents and holding up traffic, their horses shit all over the place!

I try my best to avoid them, especially the damn kids. I was once told to "fuck off" by a 5 year old traveller, I mean, how am I supposed to react to that?? On another occasion, a woman grabbed me by the arm and dragged me behind her caravan where she had a washing machine outside and told me to fix it. So I was pretty much held prisoner until I got the damn thing working.

Often incorrectly made out to be the same but they aren't.
