Most people own a television for some reason besides gaming, so purchasing one might not be necessary. Purchasing a HDTV certainly isn't necessary if you genuinely don't care about graphics, which is one of the reasons somebody might choose a console over a PC.Frostbite3789 said:You want your console to have a hard drive? Hope you didn't buy a 360, that's another $120 for a decent sized drive. If you bought a PS3 and want a decent hard drive without having to install one, hope you don't mind shelling out $300.Gorilla Gunk said:Any decent argument he made was nullified by his "Only PC gamers can truly appreciate a game like this" argument. What a twat.
You know, there are a lot of games that are PC-exclusive that I want to play. Like S.T.A.L.K.E.R. for instance. But it'll never get a console port (Even though GDC said they were going to way back in '07) so if I want to play it I need to save up $500-800 and build a computer that can run it.
You want to play Dark Souls? The swallow your "pride" and go buy a $200 console like the rest of us.
Oh and if you want HD, better be prepared to shell out at least $400 if you want a mid size 720p TV.
So already you've exceeded how much it costed me to build my PC and get a monitor and the OS legally.
Golly gee gosh, it's almost like the argument that PC gaming is far more expensive is...ignorant and misinformed or something! Gasp!
So if we assume that you already own a TV, then a new PS3 with a 160 GB hard drive will cost you $250 total.

If you want a 360 with a 120 GB hardrive, plus a headset, that'll only run you $200

I'm not going to argue whether PCs or consoles are superior, but in my experience consoles tend to be cheaper, even when I priced individual parts. Maybe I'm using the wrong search engines, though.
