I loved the original, it was different from the comics in that Paulie was your enemy instead of your ally, but I kind of like that it went in that direction. It stayed true to the others characters and powers in that regard. It would be awesome if Sontaine appeared in the sequel, or maybe you if you went up against a few hunters from "WitchBlade".
The prequel was alright in my opinion. It had some great ideas, and some flaws (the main character looked too much like Kevin Spacey in my opnion, and the Darkness land enemies were too hard to kill). I thought the story was good, and I'd like to see a sequel. Hopefully they will fix the issues of the past games.
I have to say i really enjoyed the game, yes the loading times were terrible but the story was fantastic.
Also the name of top cows marketing director is Atom!Freeman??????

Pretty much exactly what this said. A few of those issues:
The first of the two bosses in the game was fought primarily by centering the camera and holding the trigger. The amount of disappointment I felt was only allievated by the story development immediatlely after.
Jackie talked without moving his lips. No one else did this.
The world was a bit small and the game a bit short (I only felt like I was getting started truly when the eclipse came).
Glitches here and there.
Certain sections required foresight of the developers (how exactly was I supposed to know that I had to jump through that small gap in the fence during the helicopter sequence?! Why was the Darkness level so hard and why didn't it tell me lightning immediatly got rid of my powers?!)
However, the story was truly well done (romance wasn't sickening, characters were interesting, there was a lot of room for interpretation for just about everything).
I still love the fact that 2K published both this and Bioshock (both FPS's staring characters with supernatural abilities that probably aren't that good in the long run judging by the history of their users with stories that are widely like and set in a decadent city ruled by greed).
Oh man, I really love this game. Sometime after beating it, I went out and bought the comic (the Ultimate Collection or whatever). The comic and the game are very, very different, but I didn't mind so much. In fact, I like the game story better than the comic story, but I could be biased since I played the game first anyway.
I really hope they'll get the rights sorted out soon so we get a sequel!
I'd honestly say it was better than the comics. Sure the first story arc was good when Garth Ennis was writing but it quickly became convoluted 90's anti-hero drivel with out him. Stuff like the Angeleus and Witchblade would be good in game though.
Top Cow does some pretty nice stuff. Never did finish The Darkness tho, got stuck on one part you you had to fight yourself/The Darkness itself, never could figure that part out.

Oh man, that's an awesomely imporant moment. Not to spoil but it's actually the easiest boss once you work out the trick, basically think losing to win.
I was a big fan of The Darkness. The intresting story, better than average acting, and intresting powers turned what should have been a ho-hum shooter into a fairly enjoyable game. I'd love to see another one.
The Darkness was an excellent game, one of my favourites. I'll spare the praising and just say that I'm kinda disappointed by this. I was hoping to get my hands on a sequel by the end of this year, or early next...I had no clue it had hit an early roadblock.

I've been thinking back to this game a lot lately. It was actually a pretty nice piece of work, despite it's many flaws. They should definitely get onto a sequel, though I think the FPS elements should be de-emphasized.

I thought it was a pretty good game and to this day, I can still hear The Darkness try to tempt me to do something evil. "Theeeessse Baassstardss are Moving too slooow thhhrough the HALL! kill, kill, kill KILLKILL!!!!!" however, let the left snake thing eat a heart once in a while. and let us melee attack with the darkness. and let us eat braaaaains! hell, let us "play" with the people we kill, leave 'em dismembered, hangin' from street lamps, ect.
BUT THAT IS A BRILLIANT IDEA TO MAKE YOU FEEL LIKE THE ULTIMATE EVIL MONSTER OUT FOR REVENGE
Also, I have a few new powers that they could add to the game; Creeping Dark, Demon Arm, Darkness Guns, and Black Hole were a lot of fun but I think I have a few good ideas.
Dark Shockwave: With this power, you can let loose a massive shockwave of the darkness to blow out all the lights within a 100ft radius since shooting out lights was way too tedious in the first game. Also, this power would knock down enemies as well, sorta like a Force Push. Shadow Tremor: A Demon Arm type attack that instead of tearing into your enemies guts, it snakes along the ground and creates an "opening" in which Darklings rise up and pull your enemies down to the underworld. Terrifyed screaming included of course. Darkness Melee: Basically, the 2 "snakes" are used to rip into your enemies in very gruesome ways. Like the short cinematic where you first get your powers at the church and you're walking back up the stairs and tear apart those first two thugs.

YES! that's what I was thinking for melee! and those other power ideas sound great! and hey, give us the ability to climb walls with our demon arm! you know, ambush/chomp heads open from the ceiling that is hidden by shadows. and more references to the Witchblade.
