Well, I still love Darksiders so far. I love the over-the-top Gothic aesthetic, including awesome voice-overs and ridiculous character-styles, the nicely flowing combat as I refrain from spamming LMB.

All in all, I think it's a very fun mix-up of all kinds of genres. GoW-style combat, Zelda and Metroid-style puzzeling and a pretty unique aesthetic. Best thing is is that it all works together, it doesn't feel simply copy-pasted and bolted together like some sort of gaming Frankenstein, but it all blends together into one smooth game.

I also really like the control scheme, despite what many people say about it. If you ask me, they really put thought into what your fingers can easily reach and which combinations aren't too much of a hastle to make.

The cinemaction finisher moves i found a bit annoying, it's fine on bosses, as an alternative to just a fancy death animation, but on everyhing all teh way down to trash mobs, it just gets way WAY too repettitive, tearing a guy in half looks cool the first few times, but after a 100 times (and you get way beyond that) it just seems booring and a waste of time
You don't have to use the finishers you know. I like to make up my own finishers, for example. The amount of weapons and moves you got really enable you spice up combat quite a bit.

SO I'm playing Darksiders right after finishing Sins creed 2, both on PC. I can't help but feel that there's *quite* a drop in quality. I can get past the fact that it's a console port. Not having played God of War 1, 2 or 3, is the darksiders experience typical of the genre? The genre apparently being, aim your character and spam LMB.
Darksiders...in interesting game for me

I felt it playes rather well for me (perhaps because Im used to ports, its still not as bad as the saints row 2 one)

I mean I just couldnt quite finish it, just got too tedious and I didnt understand most of what was going on storys wise, perhaps I should have payed better attention but I mean a story should be presented clearly at least (I may try again...one day)

it was fun to play however

and the charachter of war...uuuuggghhhh I agree with yahtzee, I dont know what his deal is, what he's angsting about, they could have done SOMTHING to make him more itneresting

I do love the artstyle however

its a shame really I could have liked this game alot more...mabye if the seaquel ever comes out..mabye

It's a decent action adventure game. Not original, but the exectution of the ideas it copied, is good.
The story is embarrasingly bad, even for a videogame, but that doesn't really matter.

The first hour or two is horrid actually, then it picks up and turns into Zelda, but the combat is never complex only a little challenging since health is so scarce.
Are you talking about Zelda or Darksiders here? i remember playing it in hard and you would get several healthbars of health and enemies would drop health and there were entire 1-ups all through the game, the only parts where health was relevant was vs a boss you fought for the first time who you were unaware how to kill and this part where you have to kill a huge amount of angels (but if you discover there is a giant lazercannon thing then that bits really easy too) also dont forget in this game you could everysooften transform into a giant monster who is immortal and does tons of damage.

Game feels like if you want puzzels go play zelda or monkey island, if you want fighting go play god of war or ninja gaiden. as many have said this is somewhere in the middle of both of them and not as good at either

I really liked it. Yeah it had clearly and shamelessly ripped off a lot of other games, but it made improvements on quite a few of them. Plus the "Press B to win at everything forever" never really got dull for me, it kept up the "Holy shit that was awesome!" factor.

It had a lot of faults, but overall I can't wait for Darksiders 2, which they put back, presumably because half the dev team got sectioned for licking the office building's windows.

Am I the only one who thought this game was boring as hell?

If there is a god, deliver us from ever having to sit through this again.

I love Darksiders, I'm on my second playthrough. I really don't see much wrong in it. Just because it's a Zelda/GoW/DMC mixup, nobody should expect Zelda or GoW or DMC. You should expect Darksiders.

But, I'm only a PC Gamer. I never played GoW/DMC and Wind Waker was the last Zelda I played. Timid ocean with a cute blond boy vs hellish hellscape with a man named War - not very comparable.

You just gotta love the over-the-top-ness, the Large Ham characters (Samael, Silitha, Straga) and how the X-Pause-X Sword combo ruins everyone's day. Didn't even buy the Scythe this time, same damn thing.

I gotta ask though... how is Darksiders a bad console port? How do you make a good console port of an action-adventure game? The worst things I can say about it is that it assumes you have a 360 controller (thank you internet for providing a quick solution to that, as usual), and that it has a Press Start screen.
What, you want the menus reworked? The controls to work better on KB+M? A dev console? Mod support? If it's the controls, you're simply wrong. The entire genre is made for gamepads. It's an easy mistake to make: I played Prototype and Arkham Asylum on KB+M and it wasn't brilliant.

It's like playing Chrono Trigger on ZSNES and complaiing that movement isn't labeled WASD...
