People liked the original trilogy heroes. BUT if Luke, Leia and Han are the main heroes again, they should recast them with younger actors.

After Indiana Jones 4, I'm open to recasting of classic characters. Harrison Ford is awesome, but the likes of Indy and Han Solo are just not as cool at sixty.

And no resurrecting/cloning of dead characters is necessary.(except for Boba Fett maybe

In the article about the writer of Toy Story 3 being in the production, I expressed my dissatisfaction over the fact that he's a risk to the movie's quality. People kept telling me that he'll do fine. I knew my instincts were right.

Darth Vader is my favorite film character. I hope that his appearance would be only for the sake of flashbacks or an impostor. In case of flashbacks, I hope that they won't try to show us some new side of him that they decided to make up for the sake of this movie.
I guess that they can't do more damage than the prequels.

You realize this probably the studio's decision not the writers, right?

Vader's legacy certainly is an integral part of the series, but that does not make him indispensable. There are dozens of very badass characters in the SW lore that can fill his shoes quite well without resorting to cliche'd plotholes.

I very much doubt that he will 'return' as such, I'm pretty sure the most that will happen is he will show up fairly frequently as one of those blue ghost things. Or I guess your idea of someone masquerading as him works too, but then its not exactly him. I think they are just pulling this out of their asses to create some hype/excitement.

If Lucas were writing this: he'd be a clone, or he'd just come back with 'medicloureans' being the only half-assed attempt at an explanation.

Since its the Toy Story 3 writer... uh....

who knows. But, I'd say to them... tread very carefully here.

Disney, we know you just want to make a lot of money of of this. But please, you actually have the capability to put the best Star Wars villain ever in a movie. Namely this guy:

Just give us a break, please? Gods a Thrawn Trilogy movie could be so fantastic.

That in a basket of muffins please! Major events such as the expanded universe like Thrawn against the New Republic or even the taking of Coruscant by members of Rogue Squadron will always be events that I know to happen after ROTJ. Why have they squandered and wasted huge opportunities like this?
Even though I'd personally feel a little uneasy if they did do the silver screen treatment to some of my favorite novels, it would be a damn sight better than the current "fresh and new idea" approach and done with some effort, I'd probably end up enjoying seeing some favourite EU characters fleshed out beyond the novels and comics

This is almost certainly not true and such a decision is (unfortunately) not always the writer's to make in the film industry. They're often told what to write about and just have to try and make it not suck.

But yeah, it's an anonymous source from a paper well known for printing bullshit; I'll honestly drink my piss if it's true.

It's not really workable, either from a story standpoint or from a business standpoint. It's the kind of mistake a rank amateur would make. Disney's hardly infallible, but they usually don't disembowel themselves out of the starting gate.

I'll call bunk on this until there's more info to work with.
