Interesting show from Rooster Teeth where if you fall asleep you die. First episode is free and I'm glad to be a sponsor because personally I found it really engaging.
How long would you last without sleep?

Now imagine what happens to people who have survived by doing a lot of cocaine?Jux said:I went 6 and a half days once (about 14 years ago), with the help of well... stimulants. I had heard you could 'trip' off of sleep deprivation, it was the stupidest thing I've ever done. Honestly if we ever face a situation where if you sleep you die, I'd rather just die without turning into a raving lunatic first.
Definitely, imagine like I said the people using cocaine to stay awake. A doctor would know what cocktail to mix without blowing your heart up but yeah you will fry some organs trying to stay aive.FalloutJack said:There's one thing that bothers me. This is a great idea for a show, but I have to bring attention to the liver. All this talk of the bladder is fine, but prior to that organ, we have the system that fills it up, including your liver (and pancreas), which processes the toxins of your body. This is doing some serious shit to their bodies. You go from zero to all the drugs and stims your body can handle, even if you're not getting a heart attack? Your liver will shut down and your body not long after. That organ is the most durable and regenerative part of your body, but it has limits too. Even they some how stop this, some people are gonna die.
For some reason I would expect sooner. Like a month max with zero sleep.Zhukov said:Fun fact: people die after approximately three months without sleep.
We know this because there's a super rare genetic condition out there that kicks in at middle age. It starts as a nasty case of insomnia and eventually outright prevents victims from falling asleep. They die after about three months.
Longest I've had to go was three consecutive nights without sleep. Not sure how many hours it added up to exactly. No stimulants. It was a shitty week.
Your facts aren't any fun...in fact, they are kinda anti-fun factsZhukov said:Fun fact: people die after approximately three months without sleep.

Fatal familial insomnia. Yeah, it's a very rare prion disease of the brain. Patients end up in an accelerated dementia-like state. Quite horrifying, really. They recommend those with it, refrain from having children, as it has a 50% chance of inheritance even if only one parent possesses the gene for it.Zhukov said:Fun fact: people die after approximately three months without sleep.
