In my country we have this weird tradition of setting the clock one hour back or forth, allegedly to save energy.

This is wrong of course, but we do it anyway.

Today, I didn't noticed it until the three radio controlled clock (I love those things) showed this to me. I could have slept an hour later, but noooo I just didn't notice until I woke up. Surely some of my clients will come an hour early today and will be pissed.

I remember when I was small and me and my mother went to school one our early because we haven't noticed. I was upset back then because it was cold and I'm very grumpy in the morning.

Do you have this Daylight-saving time?
Do you have any interesting anectdotes concerning this?
What do you think shall we keep it or shall we abolish it?

Yes
No
Just get rid of it. I'm sure the countries that use it, have the technology to light shit up enough to compensate for the loss of daylight due to season changes.

No. the state kept forcing "trials" hoping people would just accept it. In some places it can work but not here we have enough sunlight for us to not need it.

I say we keep it! It helps fight terrorism (see 1000 ways to die 'Tali-bombed')
True to my username I rather have terrorists once in a while. Because people start to think about their actions and their important choices in life. No, I'm actually kidding but I still doubt terrorism will not prevail only because we get up an hour later/earlier.

no cause daylight saving is always on a weekend isnt it? so by time work and school comes around you had a day to get used to it.

What do you think shall we keep it or shall we abolish it?

i think we should keep it. it means more daylight in the afternoons in summer doesnt it? how can that be a bad thing.

What country are you in? Because here in the states we don't switch our time back an hour till November 6th,(next weekend)so if that's where you are don't think the time's changed just yet cause you'll be royally fucked come tomorrow morning. The bright side is if you are the states you haven't missed your yearly bonus hour.

My radio controlled clocks are usually right and I even checked with the internet and the internet turned out to say today is day-light saving time.
You know, if it's on the internet IT MUST BE TRUE!!!1!!1!!1 :)

It's interesting that different countries have different days doing this nonsense.

We had a Daylight Savings trial in Western Australia a while ago (and several before I was born). I hated it with a passion. The last thing we need during our summers with sleepless nights because of the heat is to be in the sun more. They tried using the argument that you could spend more time on the beach, which did not please anyone in the eastern suburbs.

it was invented for rural farmers to have more day-light, so they could work more. hence the name day-light savings time

We don't have it in Saskatchewan! Our time stays constant throughout the year and we don't shift it by an hour ever.

Constant time? WHAT IS THIS SORCERY!?!

Do I have it? Course. Anything interesting? Nope. Do I give a shit about it? Nope. We've no use for it anymore. We don't need to worry about incandescent lighting anymore so just remove it.

Keep it all like the Summer time.

While I can understand why we have it but I rather get rid of it. I hate it when it get really dark when it's on 5pm!

Do you have this Daylight-saving time? - Sometimes, depending on where I live. Right now, no

Do you have any interesting anectdotes concerning this? - Not particularly interesting, no.

What do you think shall we keep it or shall we abolish it? - Given the fact that when DST occurs(roll forward), it tends to have more people die(typically 15-30) than any other comparable normal weekend. It's an archaic system that was doesn't actually need to be implemented anymore. Get rid of it.

Yes
No, I rarely even notice the changeover until I realise I get more time until its dark
Nah, I like it. More time in the day to do stuff. I hate having darkness at 7pm, having it at 8pm much better suits me.

We do in the US

not really except I always have people wake me up the day it changes to tell me I either have another hour or am an hour late.

I dont care. Personally I think its fun. An extra hour of day time never hurt anyone and its good to have (not that I really care I'll play in the dark). Though I have a friend who lives on a farm who thanks the idea.

See, people tell me they got an hour extra sleep yesterday, but it was a sunday; I was gonna get an hour extra sleep regardless. So instead all it meant was I had to be awake for an hour longer. Monday lectures were not fun.

The whole of Europe had the change back this weekend. Personally I have no problems with it, but every year there are calls for UK to not shift back and shift to CET rather then GMT which personally I think is a load of crap. If I had to chose, as someone who starts work early, I'd much rather have the lighter mornings of GMT as it helps wake you up.

The thing is, this "winter time", where you turn your clock one hour back, is the original time, so to speak. You turn the clock forward in the spring to take advantage of the early daylight, and then turn it back when there's no daylight to take advantage of.

And I DID get an extra hour of sleep, because I had to work on Sunday.
