The WarZ hate bandwagon is kind of ridiculous. Yeah we get it, they put up false advertisement on Steam, and they got nailed for it. That's about it. Aside from that The WarZ is a zombie survival game that releases regular content updates. Just another bandwagon of hate.
There is also a number of exploitive microtransactions, the generally unfinished game being deceptively sold for full price, and that the developers have consistently assigned blame to everyone else but them for a multitude of problems.

It's not just them blatantly lying with their spiel on Steam. The vitriol is considerable, but is warranted.

Well DayZ was clunky as shit, with constant lag issues and zombies not dropping till three seconds after you kill them, while with WarZ, it didn't really have much to do with zombies at all. It was just a FPS like CoD but where it takes much longer to find other players, and the zombies never really posed anything of a threat at all. If the DayZ developers are pissed off at having a clone, then they should just try to improve their own game rather then complaining.

This is from their website. I don't think they're being deceptive here.

Choose one of the hungreds[sic] of servers to play on.

As more worlds become available, just switch between them at any time, without losing your character's data, or paying any "world transfer fees".

Start playing in our first world "Colorado", today, and prepare yourself to join other gameplay locations scattered around the world as we release more and more content.
Furthermore, this wouldn't be the first game that is being sold while it is still in development.

The "exploitative microtransactions" is a matter of opinion. Personally, I don't mind it. The gear they sell is acquirable in game, and they don't sell any weapons for real money except for a baseball bat, and that weapon sucks.

Uh, there is quite alot more to it. A whole lot of issues that caused the hate, this aint "oh people are butthurt over ME3's Ending" here.
How about them selling you a game thats been in development for at best 6 Months, with ressources taken as is from another game of theirs?
How about them banning you from playing at all, losing all the cash you had, progress and so forth?
How about them BLACKLISTING YOU from say paypal if you so much as even think about getting a refund?
How about getting banned from their forums AND ingame for offering any critique, constructive or otherwise on their forums?
How about that you lose any Items you purchased for real money once you die?
How about having to wait 4 Hours to relog upon dying, unless you pay real cash?

And thats just the first 6 Reasons i'd see why people are rightly pissed off. I mean, there's evil..and there's this.

So yeah, i can see why Hall has a Problem with them and rightly so. Honestly, any other Publisher/Developer would have sued Titus (WarZ Devs) for every last penny they had.

That sales pitch is perfectly fine; it's the most recent one after they changed multiple times it to due to the pressure. The original [http://pc.gamespy.com/pc/the-war-z/1226980p1.html] pitch boasted about a skill tree (which was not implemented), maps between 100 to 400 kilometers (not mentioning they only had a single map of about 100 kilometers), up to 100 players per server (which was actually capped at 50), and the ability to rent servers. All of which were not currently implemented.

It is also certainly not the first game that is being sold while it is still in development. It's a perfectly fine business model. However, it is the only one that I know of that was released on Steam without ever mentioning that fact. (Note that there have been at least one other one which spun "a beta in development" as "constantly adding new features after the release", however.)

I do agree that "exploitive microtransactions" is a matter of opinion. When they increased the respawn timer from 1 hour to 4 hours and added in a microtransaction to skip the respawn timer, it's my opinion that that is exploitive. It's also a lot of other people's opinions, too. I don't know enough about the game to claim definitively that the rest of the microtransactions are similarly exploitive, but the short lifespans of players due to the rampant player-killing does lead me to suspect that they are quite overpriced.

I don't play the game myself, but my view of The War Z is based on the articles and reviews on several major gaming news sites. I'm following it because I'm curious to see how the gaming community reacts to false advertising, and whether or not the intense negative coverage (starting with it getting lots of flak for cloning DayZ, continuing with some aggressive censorship on the main forums, and currently escalating into this) will prevent WarZ from being a success.

Because rushing development has never backfired.
I have only seen one game that was rushed and still came out amazing, and that's The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask. It was developed in about a year. Most Zelda games take about 3-5 years to make. If they actually had that kind of time to complete it, I'm sure it would've been radically different and more traditional.

I hadn't really noticed this going on. I haven't really looked much into Day Z at all, so anything I might have heard about The War Z (which is a really stupid name) may have gotten muddled with Day Z. I haven't played either game (or even any ARMA titles) and this is the first I've really taken any notice to The War Z.

I wonder though why no one seems to point out similar problems with Sonic '06. That game has some false advertizing, as well, such as certain character stats and abilities mentioned on the website and the back of the box saying that there are over ten action stages (levels) in the game. There are exactly ten, even if you count End of the World, which only serves to cut and paste recycled small sections in specific areas of the earlier levels.
