I was very happy with the first Dead Space game. It was intense, I still remember the first time i played. It was in the beginning and right after those extras got killed in the waiting room the guy tells you to run away...so i slowly walk around to get the feel of the game, until one of the Necromorphs burst through the vent in front of me...it was about that time i realized that i didn't have a weapon. But i digress...the real topic of this form is do you think the 2nd one will be as good as the first?

Well, as good as: yes. Maybe this time, I'll feel like doing a second playthrough if its good enough! My issue is that it does absolutely nothing original.

If they manage to keep a tightly drawn story, while retaining the feel of the previous installment, I am confident that EA are onto a winner.

As good as first one? Yes. Better? Yes. Great? No, it will be just a averagely good shooters claiming to be a horror game.
There is no way they could make this game worse than the first one.
*main hero will talk
*better graphics
*gameplay stays where it is
*probably more guns
*probably more detailed ways of killing stuff
And they had something to learn from the first one. I don't see how it could get worse. It was all about gameplay, killing stuff and gore, which will be improved and there will be a lot of stuff added.

I have to disagree. Now I wouldn't call it groudbreaking, but I think that Dead Space is the best example of emersion in a game that I have seen in a long time. Every little aspect of the game was designed in a way to make you feel like you were on that ship. From sound design to level design, no hud, no pause, no sound in space, no air, no gravity, fluids in zero G, amazing visuals. They paid very close attention to detail in creating an amazing atmosphere, is that completely original, ehhhh. I will say that I think they did it better than any other game I can think of on current gen.

And more OT, if they take the Assassin's Creed approach and listen to their fans and fix the issues with the first, the second could be amazing. Because AC2 was a much better game than AC1, and I think it is because they listen to the complaints/sugestions.

i agree, the immersion is brilliant for that game, and listening to the fans, if they continue this, it will be amazing, and if they find a way to create a decent range of modes for the multiplayer, and good range of other things [EG: Customisation, etc.] it will add some more replay-value

Flop. They've sold out and shoe-horned in multi-player, thereby taking time away from the single player (which should have been the main focus all along), so the game won't be as good as it could have been, and the multi-player will be sub-par compared to games that actively seek to include it.

EA might have gotten smart and decided that if they want their new IP's to thrive and become big cash cows like Halo and MGS, they should listen to the fans. I can't think of another sequel that was so much better than the original (Assassin's Creed 2). I mean you usually have some minor improvements but it is generally the same ol' slop but a little polished. AC2 greatly fine tuned the Assassin experience. If they do the same thing with Dead Space, GOTY. (oh, and Dead Space: Extraction was actually really good too).

I like it when horror games mess with your head rather than just make you jump. So far I have only found one, Condemned.

But is the same for Dead Space a bad thing? i don't think so, but hopefully they won't go MW2 on it. I'm not saying its a bad storyline, i personally love it, its just it didn't really be all that realistic like Cod4

If you enjoy the first, I'm sure you will enjoy the second, as it has shown nothing that would make anyone think it isn't going to be derivative of the first, or a reinvention of the series or genre.

I do believe I see your point, but most sequels aren't done like AC2.

And its spelled "immersion"

Judging by the game informer article, it looks great. Issac will actually talk, he's going to get new guns and there's going to be a bunch of new enemies. Not just babies anymore, now kids and such. Some enemies will only be harmed by a certain gun. It looks great, I'm excited.

If by as good then you mean as bad then yes.

For a supposed horror game it was pretty shitty at scaring you.
Well, yeah, you could unlock military armor and pretty much be a walking arsenal. It wasn't exactly "scary". But it was still a good shooter.

OT: I hope it will be good, I'm losing interest in online gaming and need a good singleplayer game.

If they manage to keep doing everything they did right in the first add a bit of new content and explore characters a bit and expand on them as I found characters in first were a bit bland but that also help lend to tight, lonely, damned atmosphere.

I think it will be. I saw a few of the screenshots and its looking good so far.

I'm just not a big fan of the new armor though. It just looks weird.

I don't hold up any hope for it, i felt like Dead Space was.... lacking.... and unless they pretty much make a whole new story, setting, charater, and well, another game, i think it will be a flop.

Honestly if it was just an extra 8 hours of Dead Space I'd be happy with that. Am looking forward to hearing Isaac speak tho, hopefully him being mentally unstable will be included as a gameplay mechanic, the kinda scares that will let 'em get away with alone...yeah.

Here's hoping they add a melee weapon of some form this time. Don't even care if it needs ammo to 'swing'!
