So me being the slowest individual alive just bought Dead Space a few years after its launch. Im having tons of fun playing it and im curious to hear what others thought/think of it as well.

It was decent, but not scary at all despite what some people say. It relies too much on shock attempts that don't even work most of the time.

The railgun segments where you have to shoot asteroids or that snail thing are horribly lame, and the bosses are far too easy, especially the final boss.

Overall, it was just above 'meh'.

Game is awesome, make sure to play it at night with the volume cranked! also make sure you turn the brightness down enough for the game to actually be dark.
Probably one of my favorite games this gen I've played it five or six times

I think i got it the same time as you. Plot twist at the end made me shit a brick i must say. You know the one (or do you) iether way get back to me when you do. Trust me you will know. And bricks will be shat. I promise. I played through it once pretty quick and had a whale of a time, but i have to say that the reply value didnt appeal to me. It doesnt seem like a game i could enjoy as much the second time around. Fun as hell though, cool little puzzles and fun customization on weapons and armor.

Yeah i dont really find it scary at all, i jumped at one point but that was because a dead guy started moving he wasnt even a zombie so it spooked me. The horrorr elements to it seem more mind f*** then actual scares.

I really liked it. It was scary in points and a lot of people like to go "I was never scared" but I'm pretty sure they're mostly lying. The first level at least scared the shit out of me.
After that it was mostly business as usual. The level with the regenerating one was good though!

Decent shooter, Good atmosphere, Good story.

It was a pretty good game, and scary enough, considering it made me scream like a little girl once or twice. ((I'm really jumpy when it comes to games.))

The asteroid part did make me want to throw something, but at least they handled the second turret part well.

I thought it was way too easy. The only challenging mode was impossible, and that wasnt that challenging either.=/ It wasnt scary either, but hopefully dead space 2 will be scarier. Bosses couldve been way better. (Why does the leviathan look like a giant anus?o_0) But it was ok, it just wasnt as great or scary as I thought it would be. But it was good enough to make me look forward to dead space 2. Also, the dead space animated movie was pretty good, so hopefully theyll make alot more of them.

It took me 6 months to complete because it scared me... yes I'm that much of a wimp.

But most definitely cannot wait for 2 :D It's going to take me another 6 months but I will do this one too!

I thought it was pretty bad. Hated the controls on the PC, even when I tried using my gamepad it felt crap to play.

But I hate the survival horror controls in general, I think they are dated for the sake of being dated. I was fighting with the aiming and moving controls more than I was fighting with monsters. I also think Resident Evil 4 & 5 controls are terrible.

Atmosphere on the other hand was pretty good and I somehow stuck with it until the end. I would never put myself through it again though.

hated it, it was resident evil 1 in space. could have been good if it had come around before resident evil, but that's obviously about 6 or 7 games late

The pacing was horrible... there was always something jumping out at you and never had any times where you were truly scared. Sure, I jumped a couple times but that's not really scary... Also, there were some parts that were so frustratingly stupid that I refuse to do a replay of it and anyone who's played it can probably tell you what parts I'm talking about.

Other than that, I found it to be a whole lot of fun. The boss fights were great and intense, the controls were good, the graphics were really good, and the story and setting were cool... all around, it's a game that you should play just for the experience. Also, Dead Space 2 looks pretty cool, though I'll probably wait a while and pick it up used for $25 like I did with Dead Space...

After the third time through when you're trying to get all the achievies, it is not remotely scary.
