Dear Escapist: Board looks even uglier. Please fix.

I would like it if we were able to change the color of the grey bars to whatever we want. Maybe be able to set different colors for our own posts, our friends posts, as well as contributor and mod posts.

Otherwise I like the new update, it is clean and fits well with the new look of the site. Also bigger avatars and more room for badges is a plus for me.

I'm still annoyed that there aren't any drop-down tables to take me to specific video series like Zero Punctuation or Unskippable. Forums are still looking fine though.

We had those an the older layouts I liked them to but I remember a lot of people complaining about it, the drop downs get in the way of clicking on other things I guess.

I agree with the stuff about making the grey bars something like blue and moving the flag button somewhere where we won't accidentally hit it when trying to quote someone.

And yes, there's too much space on either side of the avatars. Could either change that or the avatar size limit (or probably both, since we'd just get very fat-looking avatars).

I like it, it's just a lot more open, the thick grey bars are a bit bland though.
But Jack, if you're going to make a thread like this please at least add some criticism other than "weirder-looking".

Can the grey become blue? Otherwise it looks fine.

That would be perfect. A dark to medium blue with slightly thinner bar.

I think the bars on either side of the page should be blue all the way down as well, not just at the top.

I really like this redesign, it looks sleeker and definitely more spacious. However, I'll agree with those who've mentioned that the grey bar should be blue or at least users should be given the option to change between the two colours.

I dunno, I just feel like every time they change the look of The Escapist they make it look a bit more diluted and monochrome. I don't mind most of it, but I really hate how those grey bars between posts look.

I think they'd look nice in blue. It would add a splash of color to the black/gray/white palate.

I really hope they don't turn off the toggle, the new design looks like every other forum i've ever been to. I think it's just boring, Not that the previous look was the most exciting thing in the world, but it was good, clean, and it worked.

I don't see why the redesign was even necessary. I think people who like it and people who don't should be just be able to choose which design they'd like it to be.

We should get an option to change those godawful grey bars between posts. Brown would be nice, it's a friendly color and might make me less of a dick.

I have to agree with this guy. The current "code of conduct" is fucking moronic and gives moderators way to much power. Have some fucking respect for the people who made this site what it is today. Unban the OP and change the rules before you have another shitstorm on your hands.

He didn't get banned for complaining. He got suspended for being a dick about it; starting a whole new non-constructive thread (when there was already a thread [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/118792-Forum-Upgrades] to discuss the new layout).

Also, small point to Lumber Barber - you can change the background cell colour by clicking the cog. Doesn't change the colour of the grey bars but it might help you a bit.

I don't mind the look too much, agree that the grey bars should be blue.

My biggest problem is that the right hand side is being cut off on my screen - my "Flag" button is almost completely hidden, as is the "Next[page]" button at the bottom.

Edit: Apparently being on a pafe other than 1 (so that the "Previous" button appears) means that both the Next button and page buttons past 2 are cut off, preventing access to anything past the second page.

Just a reminder, folks. You're absolutely allowed to say you don't like the new design, and you're encouraged to offer constructive criticism about what, if anything, you don't like. What you're not allowed to do is be a rude dick about it. Most of you seem to understand that just fine, and we do appreciate your feedback - especially as there seem to be some common themes in your complaints. But some of you apparently needed a reminder to disagree agreeably.

Oh do get over yourselves. I assume you are now going to give yourself a infraction seeing as you are clearly refering to OP as a "rude dick". Why not practice said agreeably disagreeing yourselves when coming across someone saying that you are not professionals?

Absolutely. I got a warning for referring to somebody's behaviour as "being and arsehole" to somebody. Yet the the escapist staff can freely call out user's for the same thing? Absolute bullshit double standards. Pisses me right off.

And that's the single most idiotic forum rule I have ever seen implemented on any forum to date. What constitutes "being a dick"? Starting a thread and criticizing bad decisions made by the Escapist staff? Well shit, I guess I might as well ban myself from real life for having the audacity to criticize my country's government. After all, pointing out bad decisions makes me a "dick".

Nice of you to snip the last half of my post that expands on the initial "being a dick", ie, starting a whole new thread just to ***** about a site update (when there already was one) then post like a little turnip throughout said thread.

As many have said repeatedly, you're entitled to a view point and to express it. There are however ways to do this and the forum staff here have asked several times to present any comments in constructive way. This means dont just got "I hate this, you suck".

It seems a bit hypocritical. "Say whatever you want but if we don't like it you'll get suspended". Seriously guys, that was not warranted at all. He was being critical of the change and got suspended for that?

As above, he was being critical with no real points to express. Pretty sure no one minds reading an opinion as long as its expressed in an intelligent way.
