The DS has a shit ton of good games. Grab random crap off the shelves and you got a 1 in 3 chance of buying a gem. Try that with any other console.

Are you trying to fool people that the temple on the first island that you have to visit ALL OF THE FUCKING TIME is good design?!

YOU HAVE A TIME LIMIT IN IT FOR FUCKS SAKE!

It might have been on Gamesradar that I read this the first time, not quite sure, but it was about what developers do when in a hurry to finish a game and don't want to show it. They slap a time limit on the fucking section!
The time limit wasn't overly restrictive, and the stealth elements were something that I'd never seen in a Zelda game before. Let me ask you a question; have you actually played it? Or are you just quoting a review you read?

I just so happen to own the game.

Just because my opinion isn't the same as yours, it doesn't mean that I don't have the game.
It was just a question. And it was an apt one because your comment didn't suggest 'In my opinion', but rather 'In Gamesradar's opinion'. I'll admit, I've met a few people that disliked it, and all their complaints seem to revolve around some phobia of that one dungeon. I'm just trying to understand whether it's actually because they didn't like it, or because the media told them they wouldn't like it.

I haven't even heard of most of these or seen them at EB, guess I better do some research now. Is there a new Mario Brothers game? And whats Mario and Luigi Partners in Time?
I agree that you should try the Castlevania series and The World Ends With You. Since there are a ridiculous number of "good" DS games in varying genres, researching what you want is probably going to help you out the most. I believe there are a few Mario games, the ones I've heard of being Mario Kart and New Super Mario Bros. I haven't played them so I can't tell you if they were any good.

A good game for the DS I would say.. Probably Disgaea is good. It's the first game so you won't miss much. Um like above The world ends with you is great. This summer Shim Megami Tensei Devil Survivor is coming out so I'm still waiting on that one.

EBA is Elite Beat Agents.

Guardian Heroes Advance and Astro Boy are GBA games by the way so you know where to look. If you can find it (and that's unlikely) Ninja Five-O for the GBA was really freaking awesome too. Ninja + grappling hook action = plain FUCK YEAH.

Let's see, what can I add...
The Megaman ZX games were pretty good IMO, not above the usual Megaman trappings like the repeat boss fights but they toned down the absurd difficulty of Megaman Zero, making the whole thing more enjoyable (and in Advent you don't just copy the boss's weapon, you copy the entire boss and can walk around as a 10m tall ice wolf robot monster).
Soul Bubbles is a fairly calm game.
Barnyard Blast: Swine of the Night for a retro kick (and tons of videogame in-jokes)
Chou Soujuu Mecha MG (Super Control Robot MG), Japan-only game by the makers of Earth Defense Force and Robot Alchemic Drive. It lets you "uproot" a skyscraper and clobber enemies with it!
Speed Racer is a nice F-Zero-esque racing game, not great but probably fairly cheap in bargain bins.
Donkey Kong: Jungle Climber is fairly unconventional but fun.
Giana Sisters DS is a pretty good jump&run (based on a C64 game that was a very direct ripoff of SMB1) though apparently has only a limited release so far.
Konami Arcade Classics is exactly what the name says, a collection of Konami arcade games including Contra and Gradius. While Contra 4 includes the NES versions of Contra and Super C the arcade version of Contra is a bit different I think.

The Zelda games are supposed to be good.
Phantom hourglass is mediocre at the best.
I disagree. It might not have been as good as The Minish Cap but there are a lot of innovations and the dungeon design is once again fantastic. I'd highly recommend this to anyone with a DS.

Anyway, any of the games mentioned here won't disappoint you. Just think of which genres you like most.
Innovation yes, but it didn't draw me in like the other zelda games. It felt like I was playing a dodgy cartoon.

What. You copy the whole boss? Geez... Oh well, guess that as a huge Megaman Zero fan I have to try this one.

But why did they tone down the difficulty? I liked it. Granted, I don't think I finished any boss in less than 5-10 attempts, but it was fun.

If you want a challenging game, try Etrian Odyssey.
It's a very old-school style dungeon crawler RPG.
Just be ready to restart the whole game at some point to play it right this time.

The World Ends With You
This. The World Ends With You is nothing short of phenomenal.
Despite being a JRPG whore and a Enix fan I found it a little lacking.

I'd Recommend;
the ace attorney series (play them in order if you can)
Professor Layton and the curious village
New super mario bros
mario kart
GTA CTW
Peggle: Dual shot (stupidly addictive)
Bangai-o
elite beat agents
Ouedan 1&2(of you can find a copy)
any and all casltevanias
Final Fantasy 4
Final fantasy crystal chronicles: echoes of time
Trauma canter 1&2 (hard but fun)
Worms: open warfare 2.

Just a list of some of the games i've played and liked for the DS.

Kirby: Squeak Squad. Not a lot of content, but it stays fun for a long time. It never quite gets tiring going back over the levels.
