Decent DS Games

Final Fantasy III/IV, Dragon Quest IV/V, New Super Mario Bros., Chrono Trigger, Zelda: Phantom Hourglass.

I'm adding Ninja town.
It's a tower defense game... it's... very silly.

How did I forget that? Yes, Ninjatown is awesome. Especially for all the memes they've put in there (Pirates vs. Ninjas? Over 9000! etc.).

Soul Bubbles is a fairly calm game.
Konami Arcade Classics is exactly what the name says, a collection of Konami arcade games including Contra and Gradius. While Contra 4 includes the NES versions of Contra and Super C the arcade version of Contra is a bit different I think.

I also have to second these two; both great games (though I did find Soul Bubbles to be a little short).

Metroid Prime Hunters is the best portable shooter you will find.
Trauma Center Under The Knife 1 and 2 are very original games that take full advantage of the DS.
Advanced Wars Duel Strike if you like TBS games, though the difficulty in that series gets pretty, absurd at times (at least for me).
Phoenix Wright series if you don't mind slow game.

But why did they tone down the difficulty? I liked it. Granted, I don't think I finished any boss in less than 5-10 attempts, but it was fun.

They didn't make it easy, it's still pretty challenging but it's more beatable. I barely beat one boss in MMZ3 but got to the final bosses in ZX and ZX Advent (completely lost motivation because having to go through all the refights to make another attempt at the final boss is plain lame).
