Hehe reminds me of Game TV. It's a show here in Iceland, hosted by 2 guys talking about mainstream games and stuff. I think there's a new season starting soon.

Unless it has someone like Garry Bundy Jr onboard this is doomed to fail. Can't be much worse than the other crap on TV though.

It's a shame that VideoGaiden never took off nationally. Those guys were doing proper gaming coverage and comedy with web videos way before Yahtzee, for example, and didn't lack any in insight and humour.

The MTV of video games? Does that mean they'll stop showing game-related shows within 15 years and be full of crappy "reality TV" and bad movies?

I just hope they pick up Game Damage or something.

For the record, this site isn't only read by 'hardcore' gamers, I consider myself a light gamer, but enjoy the thought provoking discussion and essays. Just thought I'd put that out there.

The MTV of videogames?.......DO NOT WANT

*pukes*
Basically they'll only shows things marginally related to their original target audience with nothing to do with the original idea... It'll pretty much just be MTV.

OT: I think I'll pass on these kinds of channels until they start showing live professional Starcraft, DotA TF2 ect matches. That could be interesting; an e-sports channel.

This sounds awful :( We need more programs like Gameswipe and VideoGaiden, you know, stuff that is actually good.

We did used to have Game Network. It was pants but it was there.

So no, this isn't a first.
Oh god, the presenters on that... put me off gaming TV for a while.

But we did have GamesMaster in the 90's, which was awesome. Dominik Diamond = legend.
/sigh I miss that canny Scotsman.
GamesMaster for me is the gratest videogame show ever made. An important thing about it was this show was on about the time the internet was on its first legs, so it was a helpful guide to what was going on in gaming. Bringing in an entire gaming channel nowadays seems kind of redundant.

WAIT WAIT WAIT. We already had a channel for gaming, and it got turned into a Babestation channel? Hmm.

Gameface / Ginx files aren't actually bad though, so maybe a channel of it would be worth a try.

Yeah, coz, you know... EVERYONE watches those...

We used to have an anime channel as well in the UK if I'm right? What happened to that, surely the audience for that was fairly large.

THIS IS EXCELENT!!, this way, VG can get more attention from the public without offending their tiny little brains, instead making the content specific for ALL AUDIENCESS to watch (wich is a slippery slope) but still works to propagate a good image of the industry...

now... said that, "Main focus will be reviewing games"...

did someone else thought "KA-CHING"??? they are going to get paid by activision to give 10/10 to its games even before they are finished, what we need, a biased source of opinion on games so that they can make things relevant...

so, its all kinds of good for the propagation of the media and the better understanding of said media

and its all kinds of bad for the "main consumers" of the media, because they will be able to "adjust" scores so that some games get in the spotlight making them more relevant, and some dont, making them lose sales...

Have fun enjoying humor and creative programming for a few years, however I'm not sure what the British version of cops is, but once that shows up on the channel and people start using hair gel the ride's over.
