Hey, this is my first "thread"? on any forum site and im looking for some-sort of large, deep storylined game that really encompasses the player (with a lot of history etc). I've been lookin around for awhile now at games such as warhammer but not too sure if its right for me. If anyone could offer any help i'd very much appreciate it. I used to play WoW for a bit >.> but it didnt really catch me, they're arent any books etc.. to get a hold of the lore.

And Dragon Age could work aswell.
I have to agree, while it wasn't exactly my cup of tea I can see it being easy to get into. Apparently the entire game contains 9 novels worth of story and it has received praise on pretty much every game related site you can think of.

If fantasy dragons and elves are not your thing you can try out Mass Effect 2, a sci-fi RPG made by the same developer.

If your looking for MMOs, Fallen Earth is a great one. Some chose to not follow the story, but reading what the quests tell you to do before doing it will have you notice that there are multiple "stories" continuously going on troughout the game.

TES IV: Oblivon is awesome, so is Fallout 3.

Depends on the way you like things but Bioshock has a very deep background story and a beautiful art style, the actual gameplay story on the other hand, although good, is not quite so clever. Bioshock 2 has more of the art style but the story is unfortunately not quite so well padded out as the backstory was mostly told in the first game. I think main story wise I preferred the sequel but that's more because I felt emotionally connected to the character you were trying to rescue.

A western style RPG like the Elder Scrolls series (I'd recommend Morrowind) or if you can fathom it, the JRPG behemoth that is Final Fantasy.

Well, W40k does have a lot of background lore but the games aren't exactly deep in the story department.

Perhaps you could try the Legacy of Kain games? Soul Reaver 1 & 2 and LoK: Defiance tell one big story, and it's really, really good! (You could technically just read a summary / dialogue script of Soul Reaver 1's story somewhere if the graphics are too old and blocky for you, the first game is lightest on the story anyway.)

If you do find J-RPGs at all to your liking, I highly recommend Xenogears and Xenosaga.

Be warned though, Xenosaga is broken into 3 parts, and they phoned the second one in meaning you have to play through a really poorly made game to get the full story.

Don't heed the call of Oblivion. It has no substance. Check out Morrowind, or better yet Daggerfall. I personally have not played the latter, but I've heard so much about it. The features Daggerfall has to offer are too numerous to list here.

I suggest looking up researching Daggerfall. It is steeped in lore and politics (in a good way it seems). Also, it's free.

If you want a big role-playing game with a lot of lore and a deep plot, try Morrowind. Be warned that there is no multiplayer, though. Just take a glance at the Imperial Library. [http://imperial-library.info/]

If you're up for some old-school gaming, Final Fantasy Tactics is pretty much nothing but political intrigue.
Seconded. It's also one of the greatest Turn-Based Strategy games you'll ever play, in my opinion.

Also, like others have said, you can't go wrong with The Elder Scrolls series.

If you're looking for a game that has a vast, involved world, I highly recommend Mass Effect. In-game you hear much about cultures and histories of the many alien races you find in the game, but on top of that you have a codex that keeps tons of much more detailed information about the species you encounter, all of which is detailed in a fantastic manner and even appears that the writers involved did some decent biological research when coming up with some of these concepts. It's the vastness of the world and all the care and details put into it that has made the series so fantastic to me.

It looks like you're looking for an MMORPG? Because then I strongly recommend the Lord of the Rings Online. It's got a great playerbase and the world is created with a very strong focus on lore.

Otherwise, as others said, the Elder Scrolls and Dragon Age are good ones.

Morrowind. A whole lot more lore than Oblivion.

Final Fantasy 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, or 12. The rest had kinda "meh" plots.

Chrono Cross. BEST. PLOT TWIST. EVER.

Morrowind definitely, can't reccomend it enough. It is full of culture and lore mixed perfectly into the game in a deep, expansive and immersive world.

Oblivion too to a lesser extent.
