Elder Scrolls game or Fallout games.

There some good ones.

Persona 3 and 4, Any final Fantasy really, there all have pretty engrossing story lines.
This, really - while I haven't enjoyed the Elder Scrolls series, I can see why it's immersive for people who enjoy the world and gameplay. And I can vouch for Fallout 3 being full of smaller stories that really stand out.

Persona 4 has been my love interest as of late, and it's quickly becoming one of my favorite games. If you can find a copy of it, I highly suggest you pick it up! :D

Warhammer, which was mentioned in the OP, has a very deep universe crafting the whole thing.

I shall join the camp of Morrowind as well, but do try Deus Ex. I played it for my first time last night, and despite it's age, I was blown away.

Please tell me I'm not the only person who really really digs the Lore of the Guild Wars universe?
I have about 1000 hours clocked on Guild Wars, and yes I do like the lore. However, I have spent quite a few hours on the official wiki reading it. As other people have said, the lore isn't woven into the game as tightly as it could be. On a side note, looking forward to GW2?
Of course. The way the Lore was woven into the game (or rather, the way it wasn't) always dissapointed me, but it never changed that I think the lore is insanely cool. I used to just sit and read the Lore manual when I was bored because the universe was that cool.

And yeah, looking forward to it immensely!

Also, it's only like $20 brand new lol.
I got a copy of Morrowind for £3 with map and stuff, which is something like $6-10. BARGAIN for one of my top two games ever.

Also, I agree. I hated Oblivion. It's the worst RPG I've ever played. You just magically hop from one town to another, doing quests from a few linear quest lines while the game claims to be a sandbox- seriously, there's no choices. You join the Mages Guild, Fighters Guild, Dark Brotherhood, but there's no choice about it. It's just a collection of linear questlines.

In Morrowind, there were choices- Joining a faction would at least piss someone else off, and sometimes cut off another faction- you could only join one great house, for example, and they opposed the imperial guilds, so if you join Telvanni the Mages guild hates you and you can't join the other houses.
Sure, it sometimes reduced your options, but at least you had the option, unlike in Oblivion where you could only join the Mages- there was no alternative faction, just their satruday morning villian counterpart, the Nercormancers. Or the Fighters Guild and the Blackwood company.
And because of the loot leveling in Oblivion I never felt the urge to go anywhere, because it would be better later. In Morrowind, if you go into a tomb that has the evil sword of ultimate doom, it'll always be the same sword, unlike in Oblivion where if you do it at a low level it will be a shit version of the sword. So there were no "high level dungeons", only generic dungeons that always had the same set of enemies which changed as you leveled up.

Also, Generic fantasy world much? At least Morrowind was more interesting to look at than the view outside my window.

I bought Deus Ex in the steam sale. Definitely a good game, though one I can't play for long (dunno why, the same thing happened with The Longest Journey).

Morrowind, definately. Imagine walking through a desolate wasteland, then stumbling upon an abandoned temple in the utter middle of no-where, going inside, and getting savaged by some creature you cant see because you forgot to bring a lantern. It is awesome though.
