I'm slightly offended by some of the comments, but some of it is true. I really don't see myself as an attractive guy, despite my girlfriends protests (but she has to be nice to me, right?) and I pay more attention to her needs than my own.

Hm... Really the only one I think isn't a bad stereotype is 4. 1 might also be slightly true, but the way they word it just comes across as insulting. 2 and 3, yes, but for a different reason than they give. Alright, sure, we're more considerate. But that's because we actually give a damn, not because we're desperate and too far in our own fantasy worlds to know what's going on. 5.... No. Just no.

And besides, I really only ever have an attraction for girls of my own subculture anyway. I don't think I could put up with explaining what something is about only to have them go, "Right... I'll leave you to that, then" time and time again. I like my geekiness to be mutual, thank you.

No such thing as bad publicity, dudes. No such thing at all!

Barely insulting, just generalising some of our most undesirable traits. Every part of that is true for parts of our communities.

too many bits to quote but till go with this "So not every geek is going to be a god in bed, but if you're already attracting duds what's it going to hurt to give one a try?"

Saying every geek is a dud.

I like this one better: link [http://www.10bestfreedatingservices.com/blog/2008/09/50-reasons-to-date-a-geek/].

To all of us: we're supermen.
1,2 and 3 are really the same thing. 4 seems to ecourage dating a "geek" just for gifts.
15. "Geeks are often very simple creatures" refusing to acknowledge geeks as people and more as "creatures"
22. "There are lots of good ones out there: Geeks tend to not be very active in the dating field, so there are plenty to choose from." A valid (though a bit vague) point...does othing to adress quality/quantity ratio
26."Your geek will introduce you to new things" an extremely broad term that doesnt just apply to geeks, people have different lives, what are the odds of finding anyone that does everything exactly as you do?
39."They're educated" implies everyone who isnt a "geek" is a dumbass.
41."They respect grammar: Geeks tend to be perfectionists, and this habit extends to grammar."
finally, being a constant grammar nazi is a good thing apparently
42"Geeks are rich" so much for all that about us being attentive and dedicated like ANY partner should be, just date someone because they're rich. great relationship advice right there.
43.They're not jerks, 47. Geeks are respectful, 48. Geeks give a damn, 49. Geeks are straightforward:
So it's only the geeks that are good people is it? although from experience everyone ive met who is between the ages of 13-mid to late 20's that isnt a "geek/nerd" is 7 times out of 10 is a complete ass, 1 of the 3 remaining are my freinds and the other two are the people i dont know well enough to get a proper opinion
[/rant]

...holy crap i wrote a lot.
First of all, I didn't say that article was perfect, it is better, but still not perfect (quite far from perfect). I understand quite well that you wrote this rant.

1, 2, 3, 4 (and 5) - should be regarded as bonuses.. not as reasons.. I hope.
15 - well, they could've written that another way.
22 - yeah, sadly this is probably true for many people. I had a girlfriend (first one ever) when I was.. umm... 10-12? Something which lasted a week and couldn't really be called a relationship. I'm 19 at the moment.
26 - your comment is very true. I would claim that the "geek world" is quite exotic, but then again, anyone can claim that about "their world" and be correct.
39 - your argument is invalid. Let me illustrate: I say: "you're good at *insert name of a random game here*" doesn't mean that everyone else sucks at it.
41 - well, some of us do respect grammar (or try to).
42 - although it might be true that geeks earn more than the average man (mostly because many geeks plan to take (or have) an education within some sort of scientific field), then that is still no reason by itself to date one. I must say, you have a valid point.
43, 47, 48, 49 - I meet other geeks/nerds daily and I must say, this might be true. So far, I've only met maybe two persons which I've disliked. But then again, this might be because people with the same way of thinking or mindset get along easily. However, I do experience quite ludicrous things online from "geeks".
