Well, take goldeneye for example, where you can dual wield two sniper rifles. That doesn't make much sense.

When you reload a clip that still has bullets in it and they don't get wasted, somehow. It'd be quite time consuming to do that in real life.

As for me myself, it does annoy me slightly (well, a lot actually) when a realistic game puts the ejection port of a gun on the wrong side, usually along with the fire selection switch on an AK model. Also when you have a 30 round clip and can't put another round in by reloading again, since you now have a round in the chamber (see Crysis for a game that does this right). Finally, to make the magic rule of three: when the animators got lazy and have you cock (hehe) a gun after reloading with half a clip left. ESPECIALLY when you cock the gun and a bullet doesn't fall out.
^This^

Having an extra bullet towards your ammo count or having one bullet left in an LMG belt when the skin shows there's more than that... I mean, come on. If you're basing your reputation on your realistic gameplay, at least get the small things right...

Realism and fun aren't proportional.

If someone really wanted realism, he shouldn't be able to save the game.

Realism is, in my opinion, ok, but to a limited extent.

I love realism in games. I won't complain if there isn't any, but I prfer some elements of realism. Believe me, when the day inevitably comes when we see Matrix-style gameplay, where you're literally in the game itself, then provided it's safe and non-lethal I will be the first person to be playing whatever FPSs are out on that system.

Games are about fantasy, they don't need to be realistic. In fact, I prefer it when they're not. It's all to do with the context of the situation though, really.

its not that things aren't always "real" in a video game, just it seems developers forget stuff sometimes, i cannot think of a specific instance but i compare it to that of watching a movie where there are plot holes and screen issues. or when a character is holding one item in there hand in the first screen, then its a different but similar item, then in the next clip the original item is back..

these little bloopers, or goofs do upset me..

I enjoy it when a reloading action syncs up to how many bullets you're actually putting in, but it's not a big issue for me.

That bothers me to no end - if you are so concerned about realism, then why are you playing a video game? They are meant to be fun, and frankly, real life can really suck sometimes.

I remember there being an FPS that did one really realistic thing that bugs me about other FPSs. They way that game worked is you had a set number of magazines and each magazine was fully loaded when you started a round. Now, if you reloaded it didn't simply magically refill your ammo count. You actually swapped through your stock of mags. So you'd end up with six mags of varying ammo counts. This is how it actually works.

It would take forever to actually do it the way most games work. Loading rounds into a mag is not an easy or quick process.

I don't think any game should sacrifice anything for the sake of realism. That's why I tend not to go for "realistic" games. They seem to do that a lot.

Generally it depends on the game. But yes I do like realism in my games. Also I like it when there isn't.

So I want both. However generally I do prefer realism. I have complained about insignificant things like that before.

Something I love is when your enemies run out of ammo, instead of simply having an endless supply yet only have one clip on them when you search them.

Fallout anyone? The first two were like this, and I found it annoying in the third where they randomized the loot, and made it so they have infinite ammo. No matter really, I found much satisfaction with the fat boy on groups of targets.

Sorry, double post. I accidently quoted myself.

Another game like this is Jagged Alliance 2. Very realistic, you get shot you bleed, guns need repairing, etc. But your enemies have infinite ammo. BULLSHIT.

I only get annoyed when the break from realism is really bad, such as on MW2, when I put two FMJ 44. Magnum rounds into someones head, leaving a sizable blood splatter on the wall behind them, then they turn around and one-shot me with an unmodded assault rifle

Well, that actually is kinda annoying.

"We've got ten shotgun shells in this, but I can only be bothered to animated two."

"Fuck it, it's RE5, nobody will care!"

But, that's more of a lazy animation gripe than a realism gripe, isn't it?

I've had the opposite to this, my girlfriend was complaining that the STALKER franchise was TOO realistic because you didn't have infinate ammo. And that ammo took weight. And that enemies didn't fall down dead when you looked at them meaning that you actually had to shoot them and indeed shoot them more than once... at fifty feet... using a 9mm pistol. She'll be complaining that you have to reload next.

What, she a console gamer or something?

Also, yeah, that is annoying in games. Is every stalker left handed or something?
