Ive spent the last while talking to someone with severe mental issues. I cant really go into it, but its pretty bad. This person doesnt really have anyone else to talk to except me... I dont mind, but I just feel fucking awful now. Like ive been completely spent....

I have loads of homework to do, but all I want to do right now is to get drunk and try to play Minecraft... Anyone have any better ideas?

Listen to a mix of sad and angry music is what I do. So, some Billy Talent, some Depeche Mode, some In Flames, some Slipknot, and some Lamb of God.

Well, based on the comments, you should wank. Also I'll just leave this song here that's guaranteed to make you happy.

One of the highest recommended cures for depression is exercise. Exercise releases endorphins into your system and gives you both a goal to work towards and a sense of doing something.

The worst things to do, however, is go to sleep. You'll disrupt your (supposed) 8 hour sleep routine by napping which will only make things worse. There's also some who say eating right changes stuff but I'm not too sure about that.

Alternatively, watch something you found cute or funny. I broke my funk a couple days ago by rewatching Lilo and Stitch.

These videos help me feel better when I'm down, but I recommend just finding something that'll make you laugh or distract you long enough so you forget about it, at least for a little bit.

Possibly the cheeriest tune I've ever heard.

Don't know if it's your sense of humour but it makes me laugh.
From the sound of your post you do sound like you are tired. Unless you're planning on doing all you homework as a distraction tonight I suggest putting it in order of importance and maybe doing a little of it out of the way before you have a good nights rest - that way you won't be thinking about it before you go to sleep. Also, try to eat something that makes you feel full - it doesn't have to be sweet (cereal is quite good), because when you're depressed it's odd but you really do feel empty inside, so it's weird how much better you can feel once you've eaten.

One more thing! My friends used to use me as their agony aunt; I found telling someone (my mum) what they had told me (in confidence of course), made me feel better as I didn't have to keep it all pent up inside.

Hope you feel better soon. It's not nice feeling that way.

Take a shower and "relieve" some stress the only way you know how...

THIS.

Or if that doesn't work... depression is natural when dealing with depressed people, "misery loves company" and all. Key to working out depression: find something else that takes your mind off of things without creating more problems/stress/depression.

Do the homework, or at least a portion of it. After you feel you've met a quota of some kind, then play a game or something.

I find meditation helps focus the mind and find the words you need. It also help you relax.

Pfft. Hotwheels? No. The only way to relieve stress in the shower is with a pitched battle between transformers. The 'rain' makes it more atmospheric.

Tune to "Sex Bob-Omb."
I can not possibly endorse this course of action strongly enough. Sex Bob-omb fixes everything. Especially if listened to whilst reading the Scott Pilgrim comics.

I don't have much real advice though - I've spent most of this year being the friend who needs supporting, rather than being in your position.

This always makes me laugh.

But about depression.
I suffer from severe depression my self, I've been considering suicide for quite a while but I'll probably never do it.
For one when I'm depressed then I feel that I'm all alone in this world, there is no one to hold me and no one to actually well comfort me.
So yeah, depression is never the same for everyone.

There's always hiking in the woods & shop therapy, but I stave off depression (which is really just the exact same thing as severe boredom if you're as cold-hearted as I am), by having lots & lots of hobbies to take turns indulging myself with.

Alcohol is a depressant, so switch to energy drinks. Or if you MUST drink, get some friends drunk & go do shit like golfing & bumpercars. A bunch of drunk adults at a miniature golf course is truely a wonder to behold, especially if yo are sober & have a video camera.

Seriously: this.

I've been there and done it many times, myself. Go get some fresh air, listen to some music while you're out -- something active, but pleasurable.

It's a real mindfuck, but you just did something good for another; just don't forget to take a break and look after yourself.

Do your homework? You'll feel better about it once you do it.
That is very true, I was depressed in the holidays because of the damned homework.

I listen to music. Cookie for who knows what line this is from.

I'd play MW2 for a bit. You'll forgot about being depressed and switch to being angry, wanting to punch noisy little 12 year olds. :) see, now you're angry and not depressed anymore.

(I think you're a good person for taking the time to talk to this individual btw. Most people aren't like that.)
