Designin' Killer Robots.

Im working on a project at the moment that will at one point involve killer robots. I'm planing on making these things the scariest mofos you could ever witness. Thing is I dont scare easy and my designs thus far have been less than inspired. I'm just wondering what you guys would you consider terrifying for a killer robot. It could be about its appearance :whether it looks beastial or humanoid, or its onboard weaponry?

Glowing eyes is essential methinks, and humanoid, but maybe with extra arms?

Make it radioactive. That way it kills people without having to do anything. If you survive the encounter you might get cancer or have no sperm left. IT KILLS THE FUTURE.

Make them look vaguely like medical instruments. Scalpels and shit.

Like a person, Blade Runner style, but with the ability to change shape, T2 style.

Futurama references aside, some sort of mechanical spider which can rearrange the way it's body is built and is covered in lots of spikes and sharp corners with big glowing red eyes would be pretty scary. Also, give it an arm which has a cute stuffed rabbit attached to it, to act as the brain. Cookie for person who gets the reference.

And as for robots, Cylons are actually pretty creepy. I also like the terminator when all the skin and stuff is gone, when its just the frame. Give it some buzzsaws or something and you're in there =P

If you have played Bioshock or have seen the Bioshock 2 trailers, then Big Daddy's and Big Sisters are pretty good starting blocks for killer robots.

If your aiming for scary, then make a lot of different robots based on already existing fears.
An arachnid robot would scare people who have a fear of spiders.
Thats what a lot of monsters are, an extension of everyday fears.

A tiny hornet robot. Sort of like the one in Transformers 2, if you've seen the film of course. But with little guns and buzzsaws.

ok heres one I came up with. The one on the right is more of the bogeyman idea I originally had while the one on the left is more feminine. I didn't give her the "usual stuff" stuff since these are on an alien planet. A simple allusion built on shape is more than enough to suggest female.

make the robot look like a grandmother, I dare anyone to be able to fight back against Nanny Julia, or Nanny Roberts, or Nanny Lee, or Nanny... you get the point hopefully?

Come on, if a walking death tank of doom that looked like my grandmother came to kill me, I'd die on the spot, since I know i'd be easier than creating the willpower to hit my own grandmother.
