I was along for the ride until I read "turn based". Quite sad that they would bring down an other wise excellent concept with such an archaic system.

Don?t know Kraken...I honestly like the idea. I mean just look how well the old Fallout games did with turn based combat. I feel it's time for a zombie game to be something other than a shooter. This game is going to play more to the other side of the post-apocalyptic life that we don?t see much. As the discussion board said
"-Serious examination of a national crisis or natural disaster. Humans and a lack of order are a bigger threat than the undead. Think Hurricane Katrina, Children of Men, Dawn of the Dead NOT Resident Evil, Return of the Living Dead, zombie shooter-type games.
-Game is about survival. Scavenging resources, exploring the area, dealing with other survivors, and managing a shelter of sorts are the main focus of the game. More on this later."
I personally like this. Sure zombies are great..But what about other survivors and natural disasters that lead to this state of chaos?

Aww I would absolutely love to see a WoW style ZRPG. Have different classes of survivor (based on the guide mind you), and keep the game going indefinitely. They could even release the game and not infect the general NPC population for a couple of weeks until after the game is release. Give people some tension of "Is it going to be Z-Day when I log in today?"

Let there be a leveling system, that makes your survivor thriftier at making weapons, or more badass at finding ways to kill them, or whatever. I'm not sure if this would work in first or third person better but either way definitely have real-time combat. Nothing quite so satisfying as being snuck up on from behind and pulling off a quick shotgun blast to their cranium.

Hell over time the people could gather in secure compounds and the devs could work on sending a ridiculous amount of zombies to try to infect and take them over. IRL days and week long sieges to protect your little survivor fort.

This game could have everything, a food gathering system, a friend system, all that good stuff. You'd probably have to make it somehow bad to be infected by a zombie, maybe to the point of having to make a new character, but figure out a way to make sure so that the newbie isn't "Deathclawed as soon as they leave the vault for the first time" (best way I could think of saying that)

I wish I could develop games. That game would be ridiculously awesome IMO

We are up to our eyeballs in zombie FPS games. I wasn't interested _until_ I saw "turn-based".

This sounds really interesting. I've been waitng for a game that focues more on the survival than on the zombies.

I'm not a fan of turn-base either, but Fallout 1&2 are some of my favorite games. And as for the psychological approach, I think they can achieve it. There's more than the shock of "Oh god the zombies are attacking".

This game remembered me of Dead Island from Techland, whatever happened to that game?

Turn based, open-ended zombie apocalypse RPG? Sold.
That's almost my dream game. Sounds like a sort of Darklands with zombies.

A well thought turn based combat can rise drastically tactical deep in any fight.
Who cares about modern instant-gratification junkies. God bless Doublebear and ITS.

Takes too long for us modern instant-gratification junkies.
It also creates an odd sense of being slower than the things your meant to be fighting against.
When it comes to slow shuffling zombie hoardes, I think I'd prefer quick fluid combat. After all, alongside cognitive ability, speed is a humans strength against brain-dead masses :)

Well, I think people don't want turn based games just cause mostly they have deep ignorance about strong points in that kind of gameplay.
Maybe they never played a really good turn based game.
Maybe if they try masterpieces like UFO, Jagged Alliance 2, Fallout 1-2 and so on, then they will change their prejudices.

Fallout 3 sucks, anyway. Under a shiny appareance (well, except for humans, where Bethesda never fail to disappoint us) it covers gameplay and balance which are bad jokes for any competent gamer.
It's bad as RPG and even worse as shooter.

Does this count. Mind you THIS is free. And online.

I like it. And you know the vast majority of the game is free. Paying is just for overpower Uber I eat you for break fast.

This reminds me of a Indy game I own, only without the turn based thing sorta, (cost ~$10 on Impulse - Stardock's service): http://www.fortzombie.com/

Note: Warning - I would only recommend the game for zombie game aficionados who are willing to put up with bugs, crashes, older graphics, wonky camera, and a whole lot of zombie surviving fun for a few dollars. BUT please also note that word is from the devs who are very chatty on their forums that another patch, which includes new content as well, is expected within the next week with more free content patches coming in the future. Pretty good support for a $10 game.

So with the Kerberos Productions game as proof of concept, I definitely have an interest in seeing more of this type of game, just to see who does it best. I'll be watching for more news on their ZRPG :D

Zombie RPG?

WANT!

I think it's pretty well documented that I freaking love the brain munchers, and zombie RPG is goood.

I never liked Urban Dead, I hate the fact that it only let's you play for a certain amount of time per day, oh and if you die, your playtime gets cut right in half.

This game sounds awesome and I seriously hope it will be available on steam. Unfortunately the turn based isometric RPG is a dying breed, simply because most new young gamers don't have the patience for it.

Sounds interesting, i was getting bored of all the general zombie stuff. It's one the reasons why i liked Max Brook's books, so this game has potential.

What is so bad about is being turned base? Everyone here loves Fallout and this game is going be a "Fallout Style" RPG.
