I thought it'd be a fun to discuss possible ideas for Nintendo's next console. You can add anything you want to the list that would have some relation to the next console, whether it be internal hardware, ideas for channels, etc. Try to keep suggestions realistic without going overboard. In other words, try to limit your ideas so as the price of the console wouldn't be enormous. Around $300 or less is probably what Nintendo would shoot for.
My ideas:
-Games in the HD DVD format. (Obviously Blu-Ray is better, but HD DVDs still can produce some great visuals of their own, and are inexpensive. It's a perfect choice for a Nintendo console.)
-A hard drive. (I'm not familiar with hard drive prices, nor do I know off the top of my head how much space a typical game on an HD DVD takes up, but I doubt a lot of GB would be needed anyway. If the next console focused mostly on games and didn't bother with storing other data like music files, I'd say approximately 10 GB would be sufficient. SD Card support should remain as well.)
-No more friend codes or a global friend code. (A lot of people I know agree on this one. Adding someone to you Wii address book should be all you need to be able to play online with that person. On that note, games with Wi-Fi support should be more like Grand Slam Tennis, which allows you to instantly add anyone to your friend list without needing to enter a friend code.)
-MotionPlus technology for both the Wii Remote and Nunchuk. (This is a stretch, as it might not be possible when the time comes for the next Nintendo console. IIRC, was too big and expensive to include in the Wii Remote at launch, and that may or may not change with the next console.)
-A better Internet and Nintendo Channel. (This is pretty self-explanatory. If the next console does get a hard drive, I'd like the see not just demos for the DS like we have now on the Nintendo Channel, but demos for the console as well. As for the Internet Channel, Flash 10 and multiple tabs is really all I want to see from it.)
-Backwards compatibility for Wii and possibly Gamecube games. (I shouldn't have to explain this one. I think Nintendo might pull a DSi and stop support for Gamecube games.)
