Last I checked, my Wii had a hard drive? Not sure on the size of it, but it saves all my game files too it, plus whatever patches teh games give.

Personally, I'd just rip up teh whole online experience and make it much more user friendly, and if anythign more like a PC. Where you have a interface that is naturally like a Mouse, there are no excuse to have game lobbies where YOU pic the game you want to play, not some retarded automatch-maker.

Would also help get in games with friends easier.

Not overly concerned about HD, but a DvD/CD player is a must, and more apps available for your home page.
How is a DVD/CD player a must? It's a game console. The LAST thing that you should ever consider putting in a game console is a DVD/CD player. That's just unnecessary expenses for minor luxuries.

HD compatibility will be a must, and will, IMO, be one of the features that drives the mass-market into upgrading to the WiiII.

With HD compatibility comes the need for a larger storage format, however, that does not necessarily mean Blu-ray compatibility, as Nintendo may well establish their own format. (I hope not, however, because I still beleive that the unusual format was part of the reason for the failure of the GameCube). I don't see the point of getting into movie playback, as unless you time it just right, most people will either already have their movie technology, or will have specific requirements that simply tacking on play capability to the WiiII won't satisfy.

Motion-sense-plus, as well as the light gun arrangment will be standard, although the nunchuks will be wireless.

I honestly don't see a hard-disk drive in it. It's an entire additional system thus costing more, with additional moving parts and generating heat which means another area where the system can fail. With the increasing capacity and cheapness of flash memory, SD cards, and RAM, it's hard to say if a hard-disk would actually add anything.

I expect we'll see a much stronger voice-recogntion/activation system. As well as the means to use your WiiII for standard telephone calls.

What we will also see is a much more seamless type of networking between your WiiII and your other portable devices. If we want to stretch a little bit, I don't think it's beyond plausible that Nintendo may put a touch screen on the controller and increase its memory so that it can function as a type of portable device itself.
I'd like the see Nintendo utilize flash memory again over using a hard drive, but are there any limitations in terms of memory? If you can have any number of blocks, than it shouldn't definitely be used over a hard drive.

Yeah, and it should support Games like Gears of War 3, Dead Rising 2 & Halo 4 or something, and then we paint it white and call it Xbox 640 -.-

EDIT: And pour some shit into it.

Is your "Spidersense" tingling or what?

Being that the last gen of consuls had dvd players in, its silly of nintendo not to put one in, its already capable of it anyway, as there is a software hack you can use on SD cards that make it work on DvD, of course, I'd rather not potentially fuck with my Wii incase it dies and I have voided the Warrenty, but it proves that Nintendo could have done it, for negligable or no additional cost.

As I don't have a DvD player on my tv (I have to use my PC + monitor to watch them) I'd have quite liked the Wii to have one built in. Ultimately it also gives a bit more selling power, which in turn promotes more game devs to make games for it (increasing the chance of an actual good one)

I'm not saying its the sole innovation they should have, but they simply have no reason not to include it.

There's still the problem of Blu-Ray being the king this generation as far as DVDs go. If Nintendo wished the keep the cost of their system at a minimum, they'd no doubt choose HD DVDs over Blu-Ray. Since movies in the HD DVD format are rapidly declining, I would think it'd be a waste of time.

It has to have a necktie attachment for Donkey Kong games.
We're going to make copious amounts of monies, you and I. Between this and the Geiger Counter attachment, we;ll be disgustingly rich.

Also why is this not on sale? I can get:

But not this?

Pretty sure bumping doesn't work here unless you quote someone. Also I would just like to see more support for their online segment. There is nothing wrong with the service per se, but they could offer additional services and lag fixes and whatnot.

My prediction: it will have slightly-upgraded motion controls and support high-definition, but will otherwise be more or less the exact same console as the Wii, Wiimote, Shovelware and all.

They could use a dual format Blu-Ray/HD-DVD drive since they're not any more expensive than a single format drive.
I don't think they will put blu-ray because Sony makes it

- last gen (Wii) hardware with a small power bump
- one full resolution step behind the others
- no proper network gaming, no matchmaking, no voice comms, because competition is an ugly word and in fact the console's target market would prefer to always receive first price and a gold star for showing up. Also, everyone on the internet is a pedo and will download your toddler right out of your living room if given the chance. No such things as parental responsibility, parental oversight, parental controls or laws of physics exist.
- last gen (Wii) compatibility, but only if you buy a second set of peripherals for no particular reason
- less storage than on an average mobile phone at the time

In other words, they'll just use the same recipe they designed Wii with back in the day, and roll in cash some more.

I'd say a graphics upgrade. maybe something between PS2 and Xbox 360. Also a 1TB hard drive is only $90 so putting a hard drive in wouldn't be to hard

Id like more buttons on the controller and a gamecube controller or something similar out of the box. I do want to play some games with a controller. (ie. im worried how upcoming tatsunoko vs capcom is going to work)

Upgrade the Store to allow downloads of new titles.

Make games cheaper.. I thought the object of the Wii being a step behind the other consoles was so that games would be cheaper to make.. those saving have not been passed on to the consumer.

Make more games for the fans that have kept you afloat during the hard times.

Damn, just $90? That's insane. Although,aAs much as the idea of a 1 TB hard drive gets me drooling, it's still an unnecessary luxury. 10-20 GB is all a Wii HD would really need, especially if they improve on the SD card channel and have the feature on the next Wii from the start.

Well, let's look at what the competition has planned. Both Microsoft and Sony are planning an incremental update to their existing consoles that mimics the Wii's motion control system; no major replacement for either system has been announced. This means trouble for Nintendo, because while everyone else can just buy an add-on for their existing systems, Wii owners will have to buy a whole new system to get the hardware upgrades they're most interested in -- a hard drive and better graphics.

So here's my idea: They release a new Wii, say, the WiiX, that has a better graphics chip and a hard drive, along with more refined motion controls (I've heard people complain that the Wii's are too clumsy and random for serious gameplay, hence all the rail-shooters, games that use a small set of vague motions, and games that don't use the motion controls at all).

But what they do is, they keep the same low price that the Wii has, and design the architecture to be forward compatible -- so even games designed for the higher-end graphics of the WiiX will still play on the Wii, just with the graphic detail turned down. This is what PCs have been doing for ages, and it's one of their major selling points as a game platform; we're at a point where consoles can reasonably play that game too, as it were. Plus, you can almost bet Sony and Microsoft are thinking about doing the same thing when it comes to updating their systems a few years down the line.

Possible slogan: "Way more space. Bigger detail. For a price that's just as Wii."

You don't say... (|/

Judging by the popularity of it, I'd say keep on going with what they've got, and just find ways of making the gaming more fun and importantly, more intuitive. Keep prices low and games emphasising on fun. There has to be one console out there that people of all ages can enjoy

EDIT: Of course, technically all consoles should be enjoyable for all ages, its just that some of them seem to have ended up with very distinct games. There's no reason why the Wii couldn't have very violent games or the PS3 family oriented ones, its just the culture has grown up around them has shaped game developer policy, I think. Price may come into it, if you're a parent buying a console for young children you'll want one which is reasonably cheap.

I just realized that Blu-Ray has a chance of being much cheaper by the time the next Nintendo console comes out, which kinda ruins the idea of utilizing HD DVDs to save money.
