Hey guys and girls. Lately, ive been caring less and less about games, i used to be attached, fucking loved them. I got sad when i sold or traded a game, got really exited for games coming out to the point where id practically piss myself in anticipation, and just all around had a good time. Now, im sixteen years old, and i have been gaming since i was five. I feel like the reason is that ive become desensitized, nothing is exiting anymore...violence and tits are old, it just feels like developers are trying too hard. I really liked heavy rain, and i like to play call of duty or battlefield here and there, but it gets old fast.

Someone give me some hope!

also, can anybody relate?

I usually get like that when I'm on break or play for a while. Just go do other shit, hang out with friends, and let the console gather some dust. Sooner or later, you'll feel like playing again.

Stop playing shooters? Of course you're going to feel like a fucking idiot after God-knows-how-many years of shooting pixelated characters. And tits, somehow.

Might just be a rut. Sometimes I just get bored of all my games. Im kinda like that with my 360 right now, but Im obsessed with Pokemon Emerald, so Im good (in the Safari Zone atm)

Sometimes old games help, or maybe a new one that is different.

Happens to us all from time to time. Take a complete break from gaming for a while. It might only take a couple of weeks, it might take six months. Go do other things, like read, visit friends, go outside, etc. Eventually, you'll be excited to get back into games again.
When I was just a bit older than you, I felt the same for a while. I went & had lots of sex, did lots of drugs (that one was a bad example, don't do this), spent every weekend for a year out at goth clubs, spent time wandering the city with music in my ears, hung out with friends, read a lot of books, and just generally did different things. Then I bought a new system & new games, and got right back into it.

well I mean it depends on what you like, and I dont really know what youve been playing, it might get old if you mainly play the same game online

anway you could try going back and playing really good games you havnt played before, especially if they are a series which could in turn get you hyped up for any up coming seaquels (mass effect comes to mind)

mabye try a different genre, of coarse its going to get old if the main apeal of games in the past was blood guts and tits, try somthing praised for its story/atmosphere

or just take a break, watch some good movies

anyway as for me there are plenty of games Im excited for and some that Im yet to play

Portal 2
Dragon age 2 (havnt played it yet)

and Im still looking for a copy of shadow of colussus and Beyond good and evil, also KOTOR 1 and 2

I can tell you there's nothing to worry about; go do other things and at the end of the year The Last Guardian will get your interest and pull you in once again.

I'm playing Emerald now too. I like it but I really really miss that feeling of discovery I used to have in Pokémon games. I could go out and buy black or white but it seems that new Pokémon are all retarded and I don't really want to discover them.

Oh, and that it is pretty much the same game every version you play.

..I've honestly never had this problem. I've been gaming since I was 3 (18 years.) I've never lost passion for them...or just never wanted to play games. My problem is I usually don't know -what- to play. Having quite a large library helps I guess.

My advice? Play bad games. They're shit, yeah. they're always interesting though. Try indie games too, use the same definition as above.

There are tons of new experiences you probably haven't touched because you stick to mainstream games (note: going off of the words "violence" "tits" and "call of duty") or possibly a specific genre, or couple of genres.

...Or you can't afford a large library. ...some people can't.

I hate that as a criticism of a series. Ofcourse its the same. Thats why its called Pokemon!
I kinda rely on a game in a series being heavily similar to the previous. The Pokemon series actually does alot of what a good sequal should. My only problem is that after Gen 3 (and a bit during) the Pokemon quality went down hill. Gen IV is mostly pre and new evolutions.

I can relate.
Just look at some of your titles from last generation and you'll realise you aren't going insane.
Not many things are new anymore. In the last generation, games like Gotcha Force would fade into obscurity without being noticed. This generation we'll make a big deal when something like cover based shooting happens.

I recommend having a nostalgia fest, hoping the nostalgia doesn't disappoint, and if it does, just remember old games weren't as technologically advance or easy.

Or try looking into some series or generes you wouldn't usually try.

You say you are 16 and that violence and tits are old?

Go see a doctor you have issues.

I liked the new designs in B/W :(, they finally included the greatest animal of all, the mighty ice cream cone! and Musharna, the gestating fetus pokemon. The original 152 (Missingno counts dammit) are of course the best and in my opinion gold/silver were the worst. The story for B/W annoys me, there are a group of people that want to stop everyone from holding what are essentially dog fights/cock fights in the street and these guys are considered villains
-.-

Try something different. Give some platformers a bash, ones that don't have guns like Super Mario Galaxy or Enslaved. Maybe buy some racing games or some RPG's?

Whenever I feel down about modern gaming I crack out my Nintendo 64 and play some Zelda/body harvest/Shadows of the empire!
