Well I'm inspired. If he can change the world, then so can I.

I salute you, Gary Cola. We owe you one for making life that much easier.

A quick search for this reveals no major news sites covering this. Does anyone else feel like this should be getting spread wider, fast? This seems like it could be one of the most important discoveries in a while. A lighter, stronger, more energy efficient steel is going to be extremely useful in many industries, and hopefully will get our economy back on track.
The issue is, from another site I read earlier about this exact process, is that it isn't written like a science article should be. It seems a bit more odd and profits driven.

Since this is so crazy is obvious its fringe event, and the universe is breaking apart.

OT: This is truly amazing that this is working, it seems so simple.

I'm not impressed. Henry Ford used a plastic produced from hemp that was 10x stronger and lighter than steel for his "plastic car" in the 40s.

7% stronger steel should allow for some taller skyscrapers me thinks.

Hopefully he doesn't get shafted by the world.
If history has learned us anything, he will get well and truly shafted and die a bankrupt, homeless man.

Steel is used in almost every facet of American production. A discovery like this, if found applicable to larger-scale products, will not only get the American economy back on track; it will likely re-establish America as a singular super-power.

Awesome job man! Love to see an average joe pull something off that a bunch of pompous windbags couldn't do.

His method sounds like it's creating a very high-carbon steel, high carbon being very brittle compared to softer lower carbon steels, but also much harder. General construction steel needs to be flexible more than anything, if this stuff crumples instead of bends it will never be used in building construction.

I hope this doesn't turn out to be a 21st century equivalent of the cold-fusion and hafnium bombs. It warms my heart to hear of reality being turned on its ear and if an autoworker from Detroit found a way to rewrite physics, I'm going to be smiling for a very long time.

Remember folks: Just because reality says something can't be doesn't mean you have to listen.

Mind you, if you're not going to listen, do me a favour and stand over there so I don't get hit by the splash.

Old fashioned experimentation and innovation; what the USA used to run on.
They should have used the name "Cola Steel".
Well said, I couldn't agree more.

Although having the name "cola steel" with today's educated folk (or lack thereof) would make too many people think Coca-Cola created it or something.
