Even though I don't like the sound of the direction Eidos Montreal seem to be taking, I'm still excited for a prequel to one of my favourite games ever.

What would people like to see in this game?

If I had my way, I'd like localised damage like in the first one, and larger locations than in DX:IW. I don't like how they're putting in regenerating health and a cover system, I'd rather if you could just lean around corners like in the first as well.

I REALLY wish they would show us something of this apart from the teaser trailer and few screenshots so far, can't wait to see it in action!

They will ruin the game with the covering. I wont be able to play it without raging. I hope it has the same sense of humour, i loved that.

I only played the first Deus Ex. What a brilliant game that was. I heard only bad things about Invisible War, and I have no doubts the franchise is now being raped with the installment of the third game. Cover system? Health regen? wtf. Atleast make the Health Regen an augmentation like in the first game.

Invisible War wasn't that bad, though it could never stand against the original. I personally don't care about the cover system and I doubt you guys do as well. Do you really think that the health system was the highlight of the series?

It's just another step towards dumbing down the gameplay even further, in the first one you had individual hitpoints for your head, arms and torso and having an injury in a particular one would affect the gameplay accordingly, it was quit immersive. The cover system switches you to 3rd person as well which I don't like.

Well no, but having to find healthpacks because you're pretty wounded, instead of jumping down, taking tons of damage and then just healing because you stand still is way less immersive, imo.

Interesting, is it wrong of me that I'd like to see them steal the VATS system from Fallout?

I always bought the upgrades in the first that let my health regen so that's not a deal breaker for me.

It's more the things that come with a cover system that I don't want.

I loved the first, and the fact you could complete the game without killing anybody was a good thing, but that is defiantly not going to be possible again.

Unless you have to watch the grisly act of your character yanking the bullets from his flesh and stitching it back up, I doubt the miraculous instant heal boxes will help when it comes to immersion.

This. At least then the health Regen makes a little more sense. Okay, you play an augmented character anyway (I hope) so regenerating health wouldn't be out of place in this game, but having it from the start would make the game patronisingly simple.

Why have most games fallen out with health-kits, anyway?

Sucks that it's being dumbed down for the easily pleased console owners. I figured this after Bioshock the spiritual successor to System Shock was dumbed down. Bioshock was called an FPS-RPG. But unlike it's older brother it has no RPG elements. It's a complete boom fest with Vita Chambers, a dumbed down upgrade system and pretty much no inventory system.

Same with Fallout, Fallout 1+2 were tactical adventures where the character you created actually mattered. You could talk or sneak through the whole game if you wanted, and moral choices were everywhere. Fallout 3 is just a shooter with some meaningless stats.

It's the same with Oblivion. TES series went to consoles and then we got a shallow action game with RPG elements and pretty graphics.

But at least it's nothing compared to console only games. Fallout 3 is probably considered amazingly complex compared to Cliffy B's "shooty shooty die die" game series with like three lines of story.
