Not actually Deus Ex:3, but rather Deus Ex: Human Revolution.

It is a confirmed prequel to the original Deus Ex.

IGN (shudder) has a Q&A from the developer here: http://au.xbox360.ign.com/articles/107/1077019p1.html

And the official site has an interesting teaser trailer here: http://deusex.com/coming_soon.php

Now while I'm no diehard fan, the games have always really intrigued me and this one is no different. But I want to know what do you people all think? Your hopes, fears, expectations?

You know the drill...he said it. Reinstall it.

I never uninstalled it in the first place...

I'll surely check it out. Invisible War wasn't nearly as bad as people said.

Well that is really weird, we both made a thread on this at the exact same time. I am going to go and place an hot iron on my chest now.

I never actually played invisible war but I would definately give a 3rd Deus Ex a go if it's like the first one but with slightly updated gameplay (and graphics but I don't really care about those so much). They don't need to change the first one much at all in my opinion, it was one of the best RPGs I've ever played.

The new one doesn't sound all to good from the meagre information available on it. Luckily I just re-installed Deus Ex to play The Nameless Mod on it too, so I'm already covered on the "re-install" front :p

Well, the first one was good in its time, and the second one was fun enough.

I'll check it out, but I'll wait for a recommendation from someone I trust.

EDIT: Also, I have the first lying around, but I haven't reinstalled it yet. As I said, it was good in its time, but it really hasn't aged well.
There are a couple of projects to update the graphics nearing completion.

OMG. You weren't kidding. I feel really stupid. Oh well. Hopefully people will at least look at the times and understand. Probably not though.

My disk has disappeared. Sad face. That, and I have a feeling Windows 7 won't like it too much.

The original works great with Windows 7, just look around a bit for the DirectX 10 drivers, and it should be fine.

I'd be tempted to buy a gaming PC to play it, if it's PC exclusive. Almost nothing is exclusive anymore though, so it's unlikely that I'll need to.
It can't be worse than Invisible Wars though it won't be as good as the original, nostalgia has too firm a grasp on Deus Ex for me to ever like another game more.

I don't really trust them to make a new Deus Ex that's not just another FPS. Maybe it'll have a bit more diversity, but I doubt there will ever be an FPS with as many ways to approach the levels as in Deus Ex. Heck, Deus Ex can't even be called an FPS because you mostly don't even have to shoot things if you don't want to.

What I really want is a remake of the original, like they're doing with Half Life and Black Mesa Source. I didn't like the animations of that game even at the time it came out.

I've never played the original, but i've seen nothing but positives about, so I'll be certain to give it a try.

if it has lots of various locations like the 1st one, and you can do lots of stuff around, i'm in !
So basically as i see it you will be like agent Gunther or Anna Navarre right ?

ps: is Adam Jensen a relative to Jan Jansen ?

so long as it is not overly simplified for the sake of the consoles, then it could be good.

Ah man this is going to be awesome I can tell. I hope they pull off a better singleplayer then the second one had, that was a bit too short for my taste. Maybe (fingers crossed) they'll even be extra nice and throw in an awesome multiplayer with bots =D

Watched the trailer.. sure it doesn't show any actual gameplay, but the story it sets up is very interesting. Oh, and the trailer is just damn cool.

By what?

As for Deus Ex 3 it looks horrible, everything I've seen or read about it has made me think that the developers are going to ruin everything that was good about the original.

Well, first off by its sequel. Secondly, its incredibly innovative game mechanics (free, open levels) have been so adopted by every single game that you'd be surprised to play a game that hasn't got a lot of Deus Ex in it. Which is why after not playing it for 9 years, it suddenly seems very dated, because all the other games have taken its cue. It's a great game, but I just can't play it anymore and still enjoy it as much as I did when it first came out.
I've not played the sequel yet but its core mechanics and freeform layout haven't been copied. I first played it in January of this year and I found it far surpassed what I'm used to from modern FPS/RPGs.
