that link you provided has a treatments section with a documented successful eradication of the JC_virus from a patient.
as a side note, I thought it was in-game lore with JC being the first games protagonist and all.

A single successful case (out of more than a hundred in that study alone) does not a cure make, although it is a good first step towards one. There's also recurrence to consider and the possibility of later stages of PML being irreversibly damaging.

Surely there has to be a better way to handle neuroimplants without this whole immuno-suppressing business. Come on Versalife, show us what you've got.

I'm not sure they ever did, in deus ex the lab scientists still don't know why JC's body tolerates the nanites.
while i recognize the two are very much different, the same principals apply. perhaps mech augs are less permeated throughout the body. and so simple immuno-therapy is enough. That is to say, teaching the immune system to ignore the augmentations without compromising the immune system.

BUT, if I got a chance to do it for funsies, then I would totally get my eyes augmented. Think of all the fun that could be had with that!

That's really the scariest part of trailer by FAR, that bit about the drug! I mean at first it glance it seems like a convenient little plot device to blame the corporations with...... but THINK about even a little bit and you'd realize that the corporation WOULD do it! Get you addicted to Immuno-suppresants I mean. They probably would not even TELL you. They'd just put it in the Fine Print; The "terms and conditions" that 98% of the people will skip.

Heck I could see Sarif Industries selling Augs for dirt-cheap. People would go "What? A robot arm for $500? HELL YEAH! Sign me up!" and they'd take a loss on that transaction (robot arms would have to cost thousands of dollars to manufacture).....but EVERY SINGLE CUSTOMER would be paying them 50 dollars a month for about 50-70 YEARS! Think of how much money that is!

That's not "evil". It's just good business...

...which in this case is downright fucking evil!

Hmmm, I've got to say I'm a fan of augmentation, and I think the second video is mostly hype, but...

I'd say the whole 'they can deactivate your limbs' thing is *probably* made up, but this being required to take a drug so your body doesn't reject the augmentations? Way to not be evil there,Sarif.

I'd augment myself alot. Most likely me knee's due to them being a bit shit and im still young. Then likely one of my eye's would be augmented with better sight, zoom and stuff. Probably augment my right ear as well, it's a bit shit too. Definatley augment myself alot given that I could afford it all ofcourse.

Thing is though, I'd probably still go through with it. I mean, if I had lost a limb it'd be no contest, I'd rather be dependent on an evil corporation than be a cripple. If it was just a superfluous upgrade, then I'd still seriously consider it. I could parkour to work every morning, or just impress my friends with superpowered piano playing. It'd be awesome. All I'm saying is as far as evil corporate schemes go this one isn't that bad, atleast you get superpowers out of it.

If you lost an arm? Yeah sure, I guess you'd have no better choice then getting a mechanical augmentation, since there aren't any efficient non-robotic arm replacements.

A Leg however? Why not just get those Aluminium leg braces? You know the one that that Olympic runner had, and thus caused a lot of controversy? You wouldn't be able to parkour, maybe....but as far as I know, it has no side-effects other than the obvious need for therapy. And it seems to get the job done as well as a normal leg, so why not just get that?

All I'm saying is: Is showing off to friends worth mandatory, life-long, economically-crippling (no pun intended) drug addiction? How impressed would your friends be when they find out huh?

Look, I'm not gonna go into a deep argument with you about hypothetical financial dilemmas of a fantasy concept. All I know is superpowers are awesome, I would like to have superpowers because it's awesome, and I would go to great lengths to get superpowers because HAVING SUPERPOWERS IS AWESOME.

Otherwise why not? I see no reason why the drug couldn't be synthesized at a fraction of the cost elsewhere. It's much easier to synthesize pharmaceuticals than artificial limbs.
