This is why I love Blizzard.

They won't release a product until it's perfect, unlike a certain other popular developer whose name also begins with a B. That's why the only bad game they've ever made was cancelled.

Luckily I'm mature enough to wait for a game without cursing the game and it's creators out of impatience/tall poppy syndrome.
I can't tell by that are you trying to be condescending to Bioware or Bethesda? Because both get that kind of thing a lot.

You mean they won't release a product until its a perfect clone of previous models which work before?

Also the other B aren't as big as blizzard.

I read about this some time back and decided to cancel my Annual Pass for WoW as a result as did a few other people in my WoW guild. We have since moved over to ToR. I have a feeling they are going to end up losing a lot of annual passes if they keep pushing back the release date too much. A lot of people that were on the fence about WoW agreed to those annual passes strictly for the free Diablo 3 and it's not cool for Blizz to drag their feet when it comes to making good on their end of the deal.

All that being said I may end up skipping this game entirely at this point. I think the words real money auction house are the worst combination of words I've heard since plunger rape and I just can't see myself spending money on a game then having to continue to spend money in order to get better gear.

I was referring to Bethesda and how Skyrim is a buggy mess (the only reason why I haven't played it yet).

Ok. I was thinking you might be one of the people pissed about Dragon Age 2. I thought that one was more likely to tell you the truth.

Well I thought it was such a train wreck I had no intention of buying it so this is kind of a good thing for me. There is a chance they might bring back some RPG elements.

A Blizzard game, delayed?!

WHAT IS THE WORLD COMING TO?!
Its 2012 man! I didnt think it would be the end of the world until now but never in a million years did I think a blizzard game could ever be delayed. The unshakable has been shaken. Game over man! GAME OVER!

Except it's not delayed, delayed implies that they had announced some kind of release window, which they haven't. D3 isn't delayed, guys.

It's not delayed, it's just later than people originally expected. Blizzard never set a release date.

The only time Blizzard missed an announced release date, was for WoW: Burning Crusade, which is probably one reason why they don't set release dates until they're good and ready now :)

lol don't blame them for making the game better
It's been announced almost four years ago, why on earth hasn't it been released
The amount of delays they are doing is pretty bad, I'm sure even for them
Well not really delays, but we deserve to know a release date, not just have them wiggle it in front of us to only pull it further and further away

I love the irony of the thread title.

I am actually glad I have stopped caring about Diablo 3. I am more interesting in Kingdoms of Amalur Reckoning (Fable done right!)
Haha, i never noticed that in the title.
And yes! I thought the exact same thing about Amalur when playing the demo, although the camera took a little getting used to.

OT: I dont think i've ever actually played a Blizzard game, so i only have a passing interest in D3, which is just as well.
Im also kind of glad im not that much of a Half Life fan aswell, otherwise waiting for both of these games would be torture.

as far as i know Skyrim is only a buggy mess for some while others arent that buggy...and honestly even with the minor bugs i have encountered and even some major ones... Skyrim was not only my game of the year for 2011 but is pretty much my favorite game of all time...it uprooted starfox 64 as my favorite overall game and thats even with my nostalgia goggles blinding me to the game.. also its the least buggy release they have ever done from what it seems like... but it does have its fair share of bugs.. most of them quest related...if bugs are a deal breaker for you do wait a bit until its patched out then pick it up..if you can deal with some graphical glitches and maybe having to reload a save or two then go out and buy it when you can.

OT: i never cared for diablo as a series and so this news doesnt bother nor does it interest me.

Afaik, they still haven't settled the issue with the RMT auction beeing illegal in korea, which is why they delayed it from 2011 to 2012.

Now they realize that the previous development team (D2) did a far better job in setting up the core attributes and loot mechanics.
How do you realize that your core mechanic (RPG stats and Loot) aren't good enough for release, three years after the initial announcement ??

The reintroduction of the townportal is what puzzles me. The "sell and scrap on the go" idea ment that you didn't have to take yourself out of the action every 5 minutes to take a dump. Now they feel they need to give players a chance to rest ?
Imagine if the women(or men) of your dreams, finally skin to skin brushed up to you in the most exiting moment of your bed-playtime and said "Oh, this is great, but I need 5 minutes to write my feelings down."
It shouldn't go that way.
You want to have your players glued to the screen, drooling over how awesome it feels to bash in monsters and raiding their retirement fonds for an even shinier hat.

Scrolls of Identification are no longer in the game. Unidentified items and the act of identifying them is still very much part of the game, but now when obtaining an unidentified item you'll simply right click it, a short cast timer will occur as your character examines the item,
Deckard Cain suddenly lost all his value =(

Does make me question what the whole point of actually having unidentified items to begin with, when a (presumably) 3 second cast easily finds its value.

I've long since stopped caring for Diablo 3, much like I stopped caring for Final Fantasy games that never come out. It will probably still be a decent game but the hype has been and gone, also Blizzard are becoming a different company it seems, I can't quite shake the feeling that less and less they want to make a game and more that they just want to create a gold mine.

Yeah, I got briefly excited when D3 was first announced, but I just couldn't keep it up so many years after D2. Also, the KoA:R demo is brilliant. Pretty certain I'll be going for a Dokkalfr rogue/mage hybid. Daggers and Chakrams all the way.

I've no problem with the game being delayed again and again. So many fans threaten to never buy from Blizzard and other dramatic things just because the game won't release when they hoped it would.

As for the above article, I actually really loved the idea of the cube and cauldron for convenience. Taking that away seems like a bad decision as it pulls the player out of the action frequently as it did in D2.

I love auto-identify, this whole process became trivial as of maybe level 4 in D2. It was just a time and item slot sink afterwards. I wouldn't have been opposed to removing the mechanic to identify altogether, but I understand why Blizzard wants to hold on to its roots.

Business as usual I guess. This is blizzard afterall! Did anyone really expect anything less?
