Well now, wouldn't this be nice.

Please?

For the children?

Come on DICE you know you want to!

We might be nice and give you red and white cookies...?

And now the story can continue, good!

I think i'll warm up the old Mirrors edge and try my best to keep momentum and not run into walls and off skyscrapers, how people complete some of those time missions is beyond me.

A Mirror's Edge 2 would be nice. Maybe have a more open world? More routes to take during Story Missions and maybe just a large city hub to run around and parkour through?

I really, really want to like Mirror's Edge. I love the setting, I really really love Solar Fields in the soundtrack.. but the game is so flawed. The insistence on combat sucks, it is broken. The platforming is not consistent either, there are times where you try to jump onto something using a technique you *just* did and it doesn't work.

I ended up raging halfway through because of the "combat". Still haven't completed the game.

Eeeh I'd love to see a number two. Must play through the first again.
Decent game for sure.

If they actually MAKE Mirror's edge 2 and it's on a system I own...

I will be all over that. I LOVED the first one. It was amazing.

Got that, DICE? Now don't tease me with this again until you can show me something. Gameplay, a trailer, a freaking teaser image I don't care! GIMME SOMETHING SO I KNOW THIS IS FOR SRS!

Really? I played through the game a month or two ago, for the first time since like 2009 and I didn't have any problems with the platforming. I didn't once fire a gun, and I didn't have a problem with combat until the last level.

But everyone had their own opinion I guess.

OT: GIVE ME A SEQUEL AND I WILL PRE-ORDER IT THE SECOND I CAN!!

Sweet. I liked the first game. Flawed, to be sure, but it had great potential. Fewer indoor levels (especially when you have such a good exterior aesthetic), fix the combat and lengthen the gameplay.... and you've got yourself a winner. The story was meh, and I don't think it's a necessary investment of resources.

One day. One day! Mirror's Edge pretty much went down in the book as one of my most favourite games every already after the first play through, more of it would just be so damnably sweet.

I would shell out so much money for this game.
Now I've got "Still Alive" stuck in my head again.
Er, not the Portal one, the better other one.

I want to be excited for this. I really, really do.

But then I remember how Battlefield 3 turned out. And a big part of why that game turned out that way was because of EA's influence.

So....I don't know. Part of me is very enticed by the prospect of another Mirror's Edge. However, a much larger part is worried about how quickly the project may be "altered", simply because some EA exec wants the game to "go in a different direction".

:/

I can get through the game with 0 kills and 6 KOs, tops (three on the boat level, three on the last level). Every time you say "Mirror's Edge forces you to do combat", a kitten is killed with a sledgehammer.

OT: NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEED. NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEED.

JUST START PUMPING IT DIRECTLY INTO MY VEEEEEEEEEEEEEIIIIIIIINS.

I´d love another Mirror`s Edge. Loved the first one, tho i do admit it had its`flaws.
But the first person platforming was a lot of fun, and didn`t turn out very awkward. Kinda made me get "into" character more, if that makes any sense whatsoever.

I didn't say that it "Forces you to do combat", I said it constantly insists on it, putting you in situations that are just kind of absurd. Also, I didn't kill anyone and directly avoid it. I accidentally knocked someone off a building once.. I haven't even fired a gun because I think it's stupid that you can even acquire them.

Anyway, they call the non-lethal takedowns "combat" in the game, so I was using their term.

I don't think they should avoid it completely in the next one, but I think it needs to be refined and made a little more sensible. The game shines when you're actually on the run. It really pumps up the atmosphere, and you only have to deal with someone in your way a few times. When it gets silly is when they're like.. Okay, now go into this warehouse full of bad guys, directly into it.

They also need to improve the "combat" animations, so you don't wait for the "red flash". It should be immediately after you stun them or catch them off-guard that you can disarm them, regardless if there is a flash or not. Relying on your ability to remain fluid and fast, nothing more. You don't stand directly in front of them, wait for them to stop shooting and then make a canned-animation butt stroke that you have to counter. Why can't I just kick the gun out of his hands after I knocked him to the ground? Why can't I yank the gun away while he is keeled over huffing air after a punch to the nuts?

All in all, I feel like the over-prevelance of combat interrupts the flow of the game.

Make it so that I can see, so that the combat is less shite, the running is proper fucking running instead of first-person-platforming, the game isn't so goddamn linear, the characters are actually characters instead of bland pieces of cardboard I can't bring myself to care about and the story actually warrants giving a damn and you just might make Mirror's Edge decent.

tl;dr: The best way to make Mirror's Edge is to not make it at all like the first.

But that's just it - I plain old refused to participate.

They aim a gun at me? RUN AWAAAAAAY!

The get close enough to punch? RUN AWAAAAAY!

There's an armed gunman between me and the location I want to be? RUN PAAAAAAST!

The gun flashes red? RUN AWAAAAAY!

They fire bullets at me as I run away? RUN MOAR AWAAAAAY!

As I said, no deaths and 6 KO's in the whole game. I can go as low as three on a good run.

The combat is exactly as prevalent as you make it.
