"Has to have constant internet connection or disables ability to play games"

By the way this isn't true, I am shocked people still are getting the facts wrong about the Xbone

I primarily game on PC these days but I'll be lobbying my siblings to get a PS4 rather than an Xbox. It looks like it'll be cheaper and better, Microsoft can't do anything right these days.

I guess it depends to some extent on what games are available though.

Considering the One is a fuckton more expensive, has no games I'm interested in that I couldn't otherwise get on another platform, the PS4 remains my choice. I'll probably wait until the library builds up a bit until I buy it, though.

I'll admit, I was pretty unsure about the next gen consoles. Especially when the XBone was revealed. However, seeing the PS4 and it's line up sort of renewed my faith, and I'll definitely get one sometime in the future. Probably not at launch, but definitely sometime. Plus, with Bayonetta 2, and already existing games like Monster Hunter, I'm probably going to get a Wii U as well.

It has to be connected at least once day, else it will not allow you to play any game whatsoever until you do connect. It's still just as unnecessary and just as bad. Plus, Xbone has restrictions on who you can give your game away.

So, the mere fact that the PS4 isn't doing anything of this, along with a much more agreeable price, tips people's favor towards Sony. People know what the facts are; they just already made their decision.

My thoughts are summed up like this:

Microsoft did nothing to convince me that I should be even remotely interested in the XB1. Nothing. I'm not interested in getting a new console to play Halo, I haven't cared about Halo since Halo 2. I don't care about Battlefield 4 either, or COD. The system level DRM just makes it undesirable to own.

On the flip side

Sony did everything they could possibly do to convince me that the PS4 was the system I wanted to own, they didn't tip toe around the issue, they came right out and said "We aren't doing all the bad things THEY are doing" and thats a major plus for me. Indie game support? Major plus. Unique and interesting exclusives that aren't just new FPS games? YUP!

Where MS did nothing to convince me, Sony did EVERYTHING to convince me. My choice is already made and I don't see a single thing that could change my opinion.

So far this generation has me feeing out of sorts so far.
Ive always been an Xbox fan, heck until i grew up and matured you could accurately have called me a fanboy. however with the high price, only 2 titles im interested in (Halo and Project Spark) coupled with the DRM issues i have no issues in Xbox One.
However with Sony i wouldnt know what games to get, non really appeal to me but then again ive never really played them. the last Sony console i owned was the PS1 and i got that when i was a kid and just before the GameCube and Xbox came out so i have no real love for sony franchises.

I'm kinda sad to let go my archivements, 9+ years gold account and Xbox Ambassador status :( but E3 confirmed my decision to get a PS4 and to not get an Xbox One

Well they said they'd be using their cloud system to stream PS3 games on PS4, so in my book that works as backwards compatible.
Yes, however game-streaming is beyond the reach of most people, myself included. I am one of those people who can play Multiplayer games online fine, but when it comes to basically 'streaming' the entire information of a game, it breaks my net. I had quite a horrible time playing Halo ODST with my friends in Firefight. I'm told by many people that's what streaming a game would be like. Considering what games require to play, input Lag and other horrid things like that are all unacceptable. I just don't think everyone is considering how impractical a solution game-streaming still is right now.

And that's ignoring the fact that I'd have to buy my games over again from an extremely limited library.
Yeah, I know what you mean, as my connection probably wouldn't be able to handle it either, I was just trying to look on the bright side as it is technically possible, and hey, by the time I actually get a PS4, I'll hopefully won't have that problem.

Anyone else a bit annoyed at Microsoft, not because of all the rubbish they sprouted with used games and always being online but because of how easy they made it for Sony? Sony literally had to come out and go 'Yer, we're doing exactly what we're doing now, but with a new console' and they've won.

And this is coming from a 360 fanboy whose now going to be swapping over to the PS4. Especially after what I've seen at E3.

So infact it confirmed my thoughts that I'd be getting a PS4.

I was always set on a PS4 to be honest. Microsoft lost my confidence in their consoles loooong before the Xbone was even on the future project table.

People seem to forget or not notice the 5$ monthly subscription fee required for online play. Not a huge deal breaker for someone with a disposable income... but it used to be free

Confirmed my lack of interest in either console. But kudos for Sony making fun of Microsoft.

You could even tell how they were trying to sneak it by with the bare minimum of mention.

Confirmed what I didn't want to hear from the Xbone, but Sony stepping up and siding with the gamer (as much as they have been, anyway) was exactly what they needed to do. It wasn't that they gained any points by deciding to do what they already do, but by not opting to fuck everyone over, they didn't shoot themselves in the foot to death, like Microsoft did. Beyond that, Sony's new exclusives have my thumbs tingling and my eyes alight for what's to come. Though, I was a little disappointed in Nintendo's showing. I was really expecting more from them, but they had a spectacular amount of mid to late 2014 in a 2013 presentation.

Though, the "how to share ps4 games" from Sony was a great jab.

Ya, but thankfully (at least for me) most of what I'm looking forward to is not multiplayer.
The few that do or use some sort of online feature, they will be sadly missed, as I will either not get them, or just not use the online aspect of them.

Taking a utilitarian approach to this, PS4 is still a net positive, and a helluva lot higher than Xbox One.

There are a few things I want on the Wii U, but again they are outweighed by the games I want on the PS4.

Obviously confirmed I wanted a Playstation 4 more then I wanted Xbox One. I mean, Microsoft shit in everyone faces during the conference (not the games; some of them were pretty cool. Games like Sunset Overdrive, Quantum break, and Metal Gear footage) And Playstation's conference made me the happiest panda in the world. I mean, when I get Final Fantasy AND Kingdom Hearts III, and then Destiny gameplay, THEN Sony crashing Microsoft's funeral and then beating the body, so to speak.

Yup. Sony won. On the developers side, I pick ubisoft. EA was so close with Mirrors Edge 2.

It really strengthened my opinions but the ps4 really impressed me with the price point (was not expecting lower than Microsoft's deal). I was certain that Sony was going to do something to shoot themselves in the foot as they always have. But they avoided that for the first time I can remember.
