I'm 17 years older than my fiancee... (she 22, me 39). People were shocked initially, but they've all gotten over it when they see how good we are as a couple, and how our relationship has lasted and grown for over 3 years.

If you really love someone, then age doesn't really make a difference.

Yes, she was 14, I was fully aware of this, she was mature for her age, mentally and physically.
I spent days before asking her out getting people's opinions (from people my age) about whether it was really something I could overlook.

In the end I went in with the idea that her age could potentially screw up and held no real hopes in the beginning.

Two years later we're in love and within those two years I'd never forced her into anything.

I'm now 21 (obviously if you do the math) and of course she's 16(which in my country is the age we leave upper(or high) school) we're broken up now and I'm now with someone closer to my age (20)

But really, as long as you don't mind the judgement people will sling your way and you really develop something worthwhile It doesn't matter what the age gap is. (although 14 was really my limit, I'm not endorsing paedophilia being OK if you love them... That's fucking ridiculous)

My girlfriend is 20 years old, I'm 27, we've been together for just over 4 years. We have a lot of things in common. Generally, couples tend to have a 3-6 year age gap, with the guy being the older one because, well I suppose us guys are somewhat immature.

As for the age difference thing, go with what feels right. And if it's considered underage, do it discreetly

But I should also say that both she and her boyfriend are 17 at my old high school. Talking to my best friend about this, she doesnt like her brothers girlfriend and says she always seems to like older guys when theyre around. which makes me believe its some trick to make the current beau work harder? I dont know. I just get the feeling that either way, if shes trying to pull the jealousy card or just not caring and hitting on other guys... shes far from being mature like many of the other 17 year olds I know from back home (the boyfriend included)

As ages. To me, I have never dated someone more than a year in difference to me. Not because I really try- but thats just how it works out. The youngest girl I dated was still in my class but 6 months younger (as if that matters) and it wouldnt bother me if I dated someone older than me by a couple of years at this point in my life- or if I dated maybe a freshman in college, but theres something about people before college that just have stopped losing appeal to me romantically.

I think that age difference matters less and less the older you get. But around the beginning of dating (15-16) and into the college years its a little bit more stingy. I dont know. Its always situational.... and that always messes up rules.
