I will stay skeptical until the game comes out. We've all seen pretty cutscenes before, especially lengthy ones. And it's high time everyone knows that a pretty cutscene does not equal good or even okay game play.

It's a supernatural, Neo-Victorian Assassination game, apparently with developers from the original Deus Ex and one of the Thief games involved.

I hope the game is as good as it sounds. Until I can find out, I suppose a cinematic trailer will satisfy my appetite...

Except it isn't steampunk/dieselpunk because nothing in the trailer was powered by steam or diesel.
What the fuck do you call it then? Whalepunk? Blubberpunk?

Yep, very excited. The trailer reminded me of assassin creed (the whole assination/roof running thing, duh) and the robot/cybord/whatever men reminded me of the Combine from Half Life 2.

It's been said a few times but Publishing is not Developing. Developing means you are putting in the man hours to code or program. Publishing means you're backing the project with funds and as such have some creative control. Perhaps too much, but... c'est la vie, no?

Seemingly Victorian culturally, while post-modern technologically. Lets call it Techno-punk. Or Hydraulpunk, or Numatipunk, or Non-Conventional-Locomotion-punk... Fuckin' nitpickers...

Very excited for this game since I saw the trailer. I love the world's design, especially that mask. Very very cool design, and the story doesn't look half bad either :D

Ya know.... I'm strangely not looking forward to it. Something about that trailer just didn't flow well with me.

I have a feeling it's gonna be one of those games with a neat idea and setting, yet falls on it's ass with gameplay.

It looks pretty interesting. If I had to geuss I'd say it's probably going to be an FPS with "magic" a la bioshock. Unfortunately that clashes somewhat with the whole free running/stealth/assassination thing they had going there. I can't really imagine an amalgamation of the two without it becoming a complete mess.

The guy who did the concept art for Half-Life 2 is doing art for this game so in terms of style its gonna be top notch.

Everything in that trailer reeks of COMBINE.
If they do a Collector's Edition I would love to see an art book included in it. I love how it looks like Half-Life 2 but set in the Victorian Era.

People are going to be crying "Bioshock ripoff!!!
How is it a Bioshock rip-off? Only similarity I see is the theme which is steam-punkish.

Either than that I don't see any Big Daddies or underwater cities.

=/

Steampunk =/= Steam Powered

From what I understand, steampunk is basically science fiction as conceived from a victorian perspective, which means that steam-powered gadgetry is common, but not necessary.

OP:
Wasn't even vaguely interested in this game, then I saw this trailer. Pretty freakin hyped.

Could the term "telsa-punk" be used ? Since it looks like they have some kind of electric system. It could be magic but from what the trailer showed, magic is in the hands of certain people.

Actually Steampunk is dependent on things powered by steam.

Bethesda is doing a large amount of work here?

So we should expect the game to crash often, and require fan made patches to even run at a suitable level? And PS3 users are screwed?

Good to know.
Bethesda isnt making on the game.

Seriously how do people not get this.

Sooo this is Assassinshalflifebioshockhazecreed? Not sure, not a fan of steampunk really.

Infact I'm not even fully sure what that means but the word is being thrown around this trailer a lot.
