My sister used to watch the disney channel. I fixed that. I mean it was alright when it had cartoons like Recess and Kim Possible but the non-animated shows were diabolical. If she watches any kid shows I make sure it's spongebob or fairly odd parents. At least that's funny.
edit: the only show of that type I liked was Kenan and Kel, I don't think I have a defense for that, I just found it hilarious.

A couple of months ago this entire "Disney XD" thing aired instead of some other children's channel... I have never witnessed such a steaming pile of shit in my life! I have two little sisters and they are watching this crap constantly... and yeah it is screwing them up. Especially that "Zack an Cody" show... what the fuck are these people thinking showing that shite to 9-12 year old kids???
This is gonna sound like I'm really old, and I'm not (18). But back when I was that age we watched cartoons like pokemon and god knows what else. The difference was that the people making those cartoons knew it was weird and that they didn't make sense, and made sure that we realised it to. So as a kid, even I realised that it was bullshit and that I probably shouldn't be applying cartoons to real life.
But these bastards are actually brainwashing my (already) crazy sisters into becoming these vapid brainless American-like humorless "cheerleader" idiots... and I don't want that.
When I see that stuff on TV I actually turn off the TV as a reflex, leading to some really horrible screaming and fights between me and my sisters.

Well, they're kids. They'll laugh at anything with a laugh track. The only thing that worries me is that we're teaching the kids through these crappy sitcoms to actually laugh at this bollocks.
Most 12 year olds don't really have developed senses of humor. You can't tune into the Disney Channel and expect to see comedy genius, because it just doesn't appeal to them. 12 year olds want trite, formulaic "TEEN HIJINKS RANDOM CHEESE MONKEY LOL!" programs. Hell, even I was really into Nickelodeon's All That when I was 12, and it was never the masterpiece I thought it was at the time.
I'll concede that in the past, there were shows for kids that could also be funny on other levels. There were even a few shows that were of high enough quality that I would have deemed them totally "ageless", completely enjoyable by young and old alike. The vast changes to the television industry over the years, though, have made such risks obsolete. The suits at Disney know what 12 year olds want. There's little point in making anything else, and from a business standpoint, I really can't blame them.
The only way to fight this is to hit them where it hurts, right in their wallets. Don't watch their shows, don't buy their products, and if you have kids, raise 'em on Loony Toons, Batman: The Animated Series and Dexter's Laboratory.

Up and Toy story 3 are done by Pixar, who other than being owned by disney is still a seperate studio. This is the exact reason none of their stuff is crap, or even average.KitsunetheFox said:

No comparison. Back in the day you could be an adult and still watch a cartoon, my dad liked Hey Arnold and Doug too.
Those two were about the two main characters going through life, solving problems, making mistakes and fixing them along the way. BUT they were not constantly doing crap to get grounded so they could sneak out the house LOL and get girls omg, nor did either show rely on stupid gags to be funny. In these new shows it's like you MUST break some rule EVERY episode and get in trouble in order for it to be funny. How many cartoons today consist of a level headed main character and his best friend who is also not a troublemaker and trying to do the right thing? It saddens me. What will my kids have to watch one day? I am barely 20 and I can see this. Maybe it's I'm only focusing on two of the best shows from the past instead of the overall quality.
I will actively go out of my way to reccommend stuff like Rocko's Modern Life or Daria to anyone who tries to convince me that anything Disney puts on the screen is not an enourmous mountain of vile horseshit.

The main character being that shows epitome of 'feeling individual' (i.e; the only person in that universe able to think and feel freely), the token moron and, parental figures with serious mental and/or social issues. In ten-twenty years the Disney programming will be just as bad as it is now and as it was then. Hopefully there will be some decent cartoons though

But I DO know that Disney has put up racial propaganda before. There was one cartoon (which they have done everything in their power... and obviously failed... to hide) that depicted two female centaurs. One was white and one was black. The white one was fair, and gentle, while the black one was drenched in stereotypes and was acting like a servant to the white centaur. Umm... try googling the words "evil disney" to see what I'm talking about.
Phineas and Ferb is a great redeemer; you'll notice the humour is quite clever. Also, the kids actually like it. It destroyed some other shitty show in a vote.
My little sister watches crap like Jonas, yet she knows I love Phineas and Ferb (she loves it too) and will make sure if it's on then that is what goes on, nothing else from the Disney Channel.
