And not a single F*** was given that day.

Ole' Georgie has been milking that zombified dead beaten-to-death cow for years and it's time to let go and move on.

Let it die George, let it rest in peace...

And the only thing of value that was lost was the battle of Hoth in 3d.
Wrong trilogy. Though the fight scenes in Episode 3 might be worth the price of admission.

Star Wars honcho George Lucas announced plans to remake all six Star Wars movies in 3D back in 2010 and in February 2012 the first of them, The Phantom Menace, hit the big screen.
Although they're not saying they won't be remastering the original trilogy in 3D, it's a pretty safe bet that if they're killing the prequels, the original trilogy's not going to get that treatment, especially with the PR speak they just spouted about focusing on Ep7.

Lets hope SW7 will be 100% original, original characters and story with only the most minimum links to the previous 6 movies.

Even so, if they released the original trilogy in 3D leading up to Ep VII, tell me you wouldn't go see them.

Especially if it was the pre-Special Edition versions.

that's too bad i was really hoping to see the original 3 movies on the big screen, even if it did mean it would be in 3d

Besides that, I really wished they just release the original movies without any alterations or edits since Lucas gave up the license to his series. The originals held their own and I can't see why Disney doesn't just give the people what they want now after all these years.
they did a while back, but this is just another case of pirates getting a better deal and not paying anything for it
it doesnt take long to find a link to the unaltered trilogy online

I wouldn't go see them. '3D' is garbage. We already see movies in 3D, that's how you tell when someone is in the foreground or the background. Shoving shit into my eyes with over exaggerated forced parallax is not 3D.

Let me rephrase: if they released the original, pre-special edition trilogy in theatres leading up to Ep VII, tell me you wouldn't go see them. Even if they happened to release them in 3D.

Seeing that screencap of the end of RotJ with Hayden Christensen's untalented face plastered all over what used to be one of the most touching scenes of the movie for me just... physically hurts me.

And I think nobody was looking forward to these versions anyway.

Oh. Oh, man. Seriously, that made me LOL, and I loathe that acronym.

Bless your little cotton socks, the degree of hope and faith you seem to have is lovely. I certainly hope you're right, but personally I'm expecting the Solo kids and their stupid on-again-off-again relationship with the Dark Side rather than anything new or interesting.

...why on earth would I go to the cinema, pay half my monthly wage, and sit in an overly-loud room full of strangers to watch something I own on DVD and can watch in the comfort of my own home?

That just seems like a silly thing to do.

YES! So they are finally killing the damn, "Let me tweak it just a little more" Crap that Georgie boy had slid into in his old age. Remember kids friends do not let friends edit movies after 55.

I'm rather indifferent to the situation, I don't care for 3D movies (though I enjoy 3D games if well implemented). I have to admit, the opening scene to Ep.3 would be pretty cool to see in 3D. And since it's almost entirely CGI, could be done well, I imagine.

I apologise- I must have overestimated your monthly wage, your sociability, and your overall partialness to watching entertainment on a large cinema screen in general.

If this article [http://www.filmschoolrejects.com/news/sorry-timothy-zahn-fans-the-new-star-wars-movies-wont-be-using-his-stuff-nadam.php] is correct, the new movies will be original stories and not based on any of the existing EU stuff.

I mostly consider that good news, though it also means Admiral Thrawn is out. Kind of a pity, since I really like that character. At the very least, it would've been a type of villain we haven't seen in the movies before. Also, I would've had him be played by Hugo Weaving, because that makes sense somehow.

Well, the monthly wage is fairly low, and the price of a cinema ticket is ridiculously high.

As far as sociability goes, I'd prefer to see a film with friends, which means staying at home rather than sitting in a darkened room where we're not supposed to talk to one another.

It's not so much that I don't like the cinema - it's fine on occasion, though more than a couple of times a year and I'd be frothing with rage at the small chair and lack of leg room - but that I don't really see the point of paying top-dollar to see a film I already own.

6 dollars is ridiculously expensive? Hell, if you o to the early bird showing at a cinemark it's only 4.50

Holy shit, that's cheap. According to the currency converter I just checked, 6 dollars is about 3 pounds and 80 pence. The cinema near me charges 9.40 for an adult ticket, with a ticket for a 3D film going up to around 12 pounds. So my ticket would cost (currency coverter again) the equivalent of 14.80 for you.

And people in other parts of the country have told me I get my tickets cheap!

Well there are theater chains around here that charge about that much, but cinemark's prices tend to be pretty cheap (the prices I gave you are the matinee/early birs prices for 2d and 3d, the evening price is $7.50 for an adult ticket. I guess the main thing is that you have to figure out the best time to go to get the best price.

The early prices are A) only a couple of quid cheaper and B) only available when most people are at work, hence the low prices.

I resent having to pay more than I would for a DVD for what is often a lesser experience.

I approve, 3D in general hasn't impressed me and I highly doubt a 3D remake of two movies with...questionable quality...would do all that well, I sure wouldn't watch them.
So yes, focus the extra time, money and people on the new movies, dooooo iiiit. It might be what pushed a good movie into becoming a GREAT movie which WILL earn Disney the Nerd-stamp of approval for all eternity...how can you pass that up!? :-D
