Um, what about Solid Snake and Sonic in SSBB, Smash Bros. was established as a Nintendo only thing, and was very much based on Ninty-homage. They had nothing to do with the established premise, were added anyway, and the fans LOVED IT. Your last point is rendered moot. I mean, god-forbid a FF game that can actually break the mold and have some F**king fun with itself, maybe show that the higher-ups of Square actually have some creative soul left, ehh?

How would adding Sora to the mix upset the character balance when the fighting in Dissidia is basicly a one on one version of the combat in the Kingdom Hearts series?

I never directly called you a fanboy, I was just saying that your comments so far have sounded very "fanboy-ish."

I provided an out point for you, I pretty much gave the point up allowing you to stop with your mile-long counter-rant posts, making way for reasoned discussion. But you continue to reject the idea wholeheartedly, call this ONE LITTLE IDEA stupid and illogical, and keep on spewing out nonsence about "ruining the point off the game" etc. I have a much, much worse name than "fanboy" I can give to you now.

If Square-Enix came out with a home console version of Dissidia, inculded every single FF character you could ever want in it (+50-100 characters) and ONLY THEN added ONLY SORA would you be okay with that?

Dissidia plays nothing like Kingdom Hearts, it's combat system is more akin to the Virtual ON series. The only thing that comes remotely close to Kingdom hearts is the command battle system which is totally useless.

I've already explained to you why it makes no sense to put those things in and why they would ruin the game. You choose to not listen and keep ignoring the fact it's a Final Fantasy cross over game and it's staying that way. If all you want for Dissidia is to play as Kingdom hearts characters or any of that nonsense, then this game partially (the gameplay is the real star) isn't for you.

Sora doesn't belong, nor does any non-final fantasy related characters. They can get their own fighting game if you want them in so badly. So drop it already, I'm tired of this derailment and you don't seem to get it. So fine whatever, either talk about the actual Topic or don't at all, this is done.

ANYWAYS

A reliable source that got to play the demo recently had some interesting info on how Assist change works in battle. There are actually two types of assist change.

While in the midst of an opponent's attack, you can call your Assist in to take the place of the player character. Using L+O will bring the Assist in to take the hit for you, locking the Assist in the process, while using L+[] brings in the Assist to block the opponent's attack and stagger them, but this does not lock out the Assist. As the opponent finishes their attack, the player character will reappear, dashing high into the air, away from the opponent. Calling the Assist in either way consumes the same applicable amount of Assist memories as a normal calling.

That is an interesting defensive option that they implemented into the game. Use your whole meter to escape and have a chance of landing a counter assault, or get out of a sticky situation and have your assist options restricted for a time.

The L+[] option seems really good if you are at risk of being killed and help reduce your opponents brave. I can see mages benefiting from the L+[] change the best.

The loss of Auron as a possible character made my left testicle literally explode from sheer rage.

ENOUGH. FUCKING. SPELLCASTERS.

In my opinion, the most enjoyable characters to play as in the original were Cloud, Sephiroth, Squall, and Jecht because it felt good and smacky. Kefka was the exception, because he was Kefka. Chaos' side in the original had 7/11 of its characters as spell casters.

...Oh well.......as long as the other villain representing FFVII is Rufus, I think Ol Righty will be fine.

There wont be any other character for FF7, Tifa filled in the spot. They stated that "balance" of good and evil are irrelevant this time around and that there are more "gray" areas. No game will receive more than 3 characters as then it just goes into the realm of favoritism. They have space limitations after all, they aren't doubling the cast either. Getting a max of 8-10 new characters so they gotta give the other games equal representation with either a new character or stage for that game.

Maybe next game...if there is one.

A nice rounded character? Also, wait...wait...wait...you call Vincent emo and then start bigging up Cloud, you do know Cloud is said by many and me included to be very emo.
Yeah and you're wrong. no I'm not calling your opinion wrong I am flat out telling you, Cloud is not an emo. He's a prick, a little bit goofy, kind of an idiot and he goes through one traumatic mind break, but at no point is he a woe is me little whinging *****.

Wait unless you count Advent Children which I don't.
Yeah, Cloud was only emo in Advent Children. He was a really great, well rounded character in Final Fantasy VII.
Alright, if we are rolling with just VII then yeah, Cloud wasn't emo, he was just mentally unstable. Still, Advent Children counts as canon.

HELL NO, LOTO ALL THE WAY.

OT: Phantom Train looks like an interesting stage, I just hope you can hop around on the roofs.

Yuna and Kain are in, Shantotto's in, plenty of sword users. That leaves what, Amarant and Quina for IX without having a samey character. Maybe Lani if they don't mind using someone obscure as hell.

Erm...sorry to shatter another hopefuls hopes once again but FF9 will most likely NOT get a new character due to that fact that it got a new stage; Prima Vista. The games that have gotten new stages will not get a new character and vice verse where a game that gets a new character does not get a new stage. This pattern has held true with the exceptions of 12,11, and 13 which did not have an initial stage representing them to begin with.

The games that have chances of receiving a new character are 5,11, and 13, and maybe another game if the number of new characters turns out to be 10 instead of 8. 1-3 have already been confirmed not to get a new character and all have stages instead. 4,7,8,10,12, and 13 have characters. The pattern is quite clear that each game will either receive a new character or stage with the aforementioned exceptions.

I actually like Yuna a lot as a character, very happy to see her in this. Glad to see they're going with the FFX design, though the atrocious FFX-2 "Gunner" outfit will more than likely make a return as an alternate costume or something.

I'd really like to see one of the Figaro Brothers or any major character from FFTactics make an appearance. Preferably both.

I was moreso putting out that this pretty much cuts it for IX getting a character anyways, not hoping Amarant or Quina would get in.

That would be the opposite of good. Hell, I'd rather just see what the hell Steiner would look like drawn by Nomura than anything else.

Even got to see EX break work, boy I hope Gabranth doesn't suffer too much because of that. He's all about staying in EX mode, and EX break will make him that much harder to play.
Do you mean to say that the opponent can put an untimely end to your Ex-Mode?

Hmmm. Interesting, but frightening.

Terra rocks hard in Ex-Mode (I still think she arguably gains the most from the transition - doublecast = awesome).
Indeed you are correct. Ex break knocks your opponent out of EX mode (regardless how full their gauge is) if you manage to land an assist attack on them. You also gain map BP as an added bonus.

And contrary to that is Assist Break where if a person in EX mode manages to block or disrupt their opponents assist, they gain map BP and send the person into assist lock therefor locking their opponents assist gauge for a short time (around 20 seconds).

So EX mode is no longer as godly as it used to be and carries it's own risks and rewards. It's not as godly now that they nerfed wall rush damage (now 25% of base damage), critical (down to x2 instead of x5), and it's harder to acquire EX (full core gives 50% gauge). But you still have access to character specific perks, still have increased damage (not as much like I said), and still have a good way of pressuring your opponent.

Goining into EX, and also if you land an EX burst also fully depletes your opponent assist gauge. ie: EX mode!!> opponents Assist Gauge emptied, and EX burst!!> whoops there goes the opponents assist gauge.

They've struck a nice balance with all these tweaks and the plenty others that I left out. But with the ability of being able to knock your opponent out of EX mode really helps you if you near in critical condition. You may be down, but you're not out.

EDIT: If it makes you feel any better about the loss of any new FF6 characters, some people have done custom mod skins for characters. The Celes and Locke ones were pretty good:

Locke
