DmC is canon with the rest of the series. Wait, what?

It's actually Dontay, Dante's retard cousin. ** This discovery was made by some guy on YouTube and I fully agree with the man :D

Also I've already spoken into detail in some other post how I feel about this change (I'm a gonna be disliking it m'kay).
He could be redeemed, I think. Not by becoming Dante, but by becoming something else entirely, like a keyboard playing writer of hideously catchy music. He could be Dontay Zonday.

Now, now; as any comic fan can tell you ;
a little- ret-con ing can't hurt...
And, as any Spiderman fan can tell you, a retcon can ruin a series. I'm looking at you, One More Day.

My only complaint is that it's another prequel. Now Capcom, I know and understand you guys and some of the more vocal fans don't want to think about DMC2, but come on, we gotta address that issue of what happened at some point.

Two things.

One: Why in the hell can't Japanese game developers ever MOVE FORWARD with their stories instead of just doing various prequel things?

Two: Seeing as Dante now looks like a moronic street punk, I'm hoping the first half of the game will be him getting the ever-loving shit beaten out of him while he fumbles about trying to use his demon powers.

New Dante looks crap and nothing anyone can say will convince me otherwise.

I'll stick to 3 if it's all the same to everyone else.
3 was the only DMC game I ever got to play, and quite frankly, Dante in that game was what completely turned me off of the series. And I'm not just talking about how he looked, though that was part of it.

I have yet to place a guess as to whether or not this is good or bad. I do believe that this will be interesting, regardless of peoples' opinions.

Eurogamer: What do you mean by 'reboot'?

Motohide Eshiro: Well, taking Devil May Cry 4 as an example, including the PC versions we sold 2.7 million of that particular game, but we looked at the market and saw that there were other action games selling four million, five million, all these copies.

One of our goals for this game is to create something new and fresh that keeps the old fans but also catches new people, so that we can increase our overall appeal, our sales and our audience.

When we say rebirth, part of our goal is to go back to the roots, dig deeper, and try to expand upon those ideas to make the series accessible to a wider audience. We want to give the series a fresh, new standard ? a literal rebirth.
According to vgchartz God of War 3 has not hit three million yet. It is at 2.98 million. What in the hell makes Eshiro think that allowing the creative director of Ninja Theory to insert himself into DMC by making Dante look like him is going to bring in more people than God of War? I can look past the horrible character design if the gameplay is good. After all Bayonetta is one of my top rated games and I pray to god that they redesign her and make her body proportional. But if the gameplay is bad Ninja Theory is going to go down as the dev-house that fucked up DMC. Not simply the dev-house that produced a bad DMC.
