OK, so in movies and stuff British people are always depicted as having terrible teeth. I'm curious, is this true or is this just a misconception? And if it is true, what's the reason for the bad oral hygiene?

My teeth aren't exactly stellar; I was offered braces when I was young, which I naturally declined (in hindsight, I really wish I hadn't. My teeth were deemed good enough to not need them, but I could have gotten them anyway to make them that much better. Giving me the choice at such a young age was a stupid move by my dentist, somebody should have made me do it).

I thought the reason was that they don't put small amounts of flouride and other things in there water. Thats what a friend told me at least, but i don't live in a city and so i don't get those things in my water either. So... i guess to solve that condundrum make a poll that asks all british people if when they look in the mirror they see yellow on their teeth.

Stereotyping, god i have to go over that endlessly in media at college. Granted there will be brits with bad teeth, southern american cousin bangers and fat americans, but thats not to say all of them are.
I've been there a couple of times, and it seemed as if tooth-rot was a common thing there. However, thinking rationally on it, I can't come up with a reason why, so I'll assume it's nothing more than my brain noticing it due to the stereotype.

I can only assume most have decent teeth. I only really notice the ones that have bad ones though since it's the stereotype. I'll have to check the next time I see the regulars come into my job.
