Do dreams mean anything?

Well, Dreams are effected by your emotional state. Why'd you think children have bad dreams after watching horror movies?

They certainly have meaning, and can be used to psychological tools to tell something about yourself. As for telling the future; no, they can't, that's bullshit.

Think of it this way, you have vague out of place disjointed memories that you are trying to make sense of when you are attempting to recall. We all know the brain is more then capable of filling in the blanks with some of the finer details. What you really experience as a dream is usually not at all what you recall. Your mind starts to fill in the gaps in the dream with faces and details for other memories, and presto you remember dreaming about the face of some lost lover looking forlorn.

They dont mean anything as such.

The material you dream about has to come from somewhere though. For example you cant have a dream about being Kratos, kickin' ass and takin' names, if you havent heard of/seen Kratos.

It's a mashup of all your experiences, thoughts and feelings you have recently had. So do they mean something? Yes. Can they predict events or anything of that nature? No.

I think dreams just keep you from being bored in your sleep. At least for me. Boredom is my least favorite emotion.
Sometimes when I wake up on the weekend, I just go back to sleep in hopes that I'll have a cool dream.

Well, maybe they do. I'm not sure. I personally believe that the brains activities throught the day have remenant nueron charges that dissipate whilst you sleep. So your dreams are just simply a firing of nueron charges that have been used throughout the day which we percieve as sensory information. So its a random jumble of info that our brains interpret.
Now that doesn't mean a person can't learn from it...I just don't know how or why...so it might mean something.
But just like with religion, people interpret things differently and to me they don't mean shit.

Some interpret things differently. Some think dreams interpret the future, or dreams are messages from God or something. I don't see it as such, but what does it matter....believe what you'd like...no wars have been caused about the belief on dreams so whatever fills your boots.
