EAT CHICKEN FETUSES!!!!?
Uhm, no, because there is no fetus.

It's nothing but protein and vitamins in the yolk, the albumen is a sterile supporting fluid, and the only thing remotely "alive" about it is the unfertilized germ cell. And that one's heavily debatable.

Not meat. It is protein but it isn't meat. It isn't even embryo like you said. It's basically food that the embryo/foetus is to survive on while being in the egg. Eggs are produced regardless of whether they are fertilised or not but if not fertilised there is no embryo. Modern farms only have hens so the eggs are never fertilised so you should never have an embryo.

So yes, as stated above, NOT MEAT.

No, but I understand why vegetarians don't eat them.
Vegans don't eat them. Vegetarians sometimes don't, but they can. I myself am technically a lacto-ovo-vegetarian, I'll consume milk and milk products (like propane and propane accessories cheese and yoghurt) and eggs. Lacto-vegetarians don't consume eggs, but do consume milk and milk accessories products, ovo-vegetarians consume eggs but not milk and milk products and "strict" vegetarians don't consume either.

And I'm not going to repeat the same statement that many people have made before. (You know, this is why "(quote) this" posts exist, I agree with others but don't have anything to add.)

Looks like Wikipedia says yes.
Egg yolks and whole eggs are a good source of protein and choline.[1][2] For this reason, the USDA (United States Department of Agriculture) categorizes eggs as Meats within the Food Guide Pyramid[1]

Egg is pure protein.
Meat is mostly protein.

Are they similar? Yes.
Are they the same? No.

:D

Trust me, as a guy who has chickens down the bottom of his garden, it's definately not meat. Even if you consider life to begin from conception, there's no conception involved in a hen laying an egg; only when a cock (pun intended) gets involved.

I think you're thinking of Balut [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Balut_(egg)]. When you eat an egg, fertilized or unfertilized (and most of them are the latter) all you're eating is the protein that would have fed the developing embryo.

From a vegetarians point of view, I believe that eggs are considered a no-no, since it comes from an animal. So in that way, I believe it's considered meat.

Wikipedia says many things, and usually isn't true.

But i would say yes, due to the fact something was going to be alive, but is now dead. =)

No, eggs aren't fertilized, and are actually just a single cell that would be discarded anyways, much like a human female ovulating. This cell is not part of a muscle (what meat is. Mind you, bones, for example, are part of an animal, but are not meat.)

The ostrich egg is the worlds largest cell by the way.

Edit:

More like eating menstruation, actually. And yes, I did just burn that image into your mind.

I think that's just the USDA's weird classification :p

I don't agree that anything with high protein content is meat, that's the only thing similar about them.
