Do Games Make You Angry?

I don't mean games in general.

I'm talking about if a game presents you with a challenge that just constantly kicks your ass, do you ever show any tangible anger?

Very few games are able to do this to me, the first that comes to mind is Monster Hunter Freedom. When playing this, after a monster just kicks the absolute crap outa me, I always feel like hurling my PSP across the room, I've actually fantasized about seeing it shatter into pieces. Then again every boss monster in the game is designed to have every advantage over you possible.

Not really.

I might let out a string of swears, but that quickly ends with me saying something completely ridiculous that I forget about what I was mad at, and then continue to play the game in a very chill manner.

I used to get mad playing risk, like keyboard smashing angry. Something about having 20 units attacking 2 units, you would think would be a quick easy kill, but the dice had another idea. Down to 3 on 2 and you could feel the hulk emerging to destroy anything in reachable distance.

That is the only game that makes me angry, enough so that I can no longer play it.

Obviously someone does or else there wouldn't be such lovely montages of people power-raging at their keyboards...

I'm one of those people who breaks into spontaneous swearing...

Yes, definitely. Mile High club on CoD 4. That guy that comes around the corner with a shotgun pissed me off so badly that I slammed the controller into my forehead. I slammed it so hard I snapped the right analog stick off.

Battlefield: Bad Company made me rage so hard that I ripped the Gold Edition disk into 12 pieces. Then I went and bought another copy the next day.

No, not really. If I do get angry at a game, I will silently shut off the console and just go cool off for a bit.

Generally speaking, I only get angry when a game is so poorly designed and executed that I'm angry that I wasted my money on it. Difficulty doesn't bother me. Bugs don't even bother me unless the company shows total indifference toward patching or insists the bug is working-as-designed (part of this comes from my love of Paradox games---their patch policy is "until we get it right"). But rotten design? That bothers me.

In CoD: WaW, the bomber sequence to me seems like one giant dick move. Oh, and so did the part where you're on a boat with the only freaking machine gun in the fleet shooting at enemy fighter planes.

I get infuriated when I'm playing Dark Forces or any of its derivatives and have no idea where to go/what to do next. It's just my opinion that those games don't make it easy to know what you are supposed to do.

Well thats somewhat disturbing..

OT: I was playing one of Portal's time attack challenges, the goal was 44 seconds I think. So about a day later and I was about to lose my mind because I kept getting really close to the goal (about 44.5 seconds) and I finally get a time of about 43 seconds, then it said I earned a bronze medal. I nearly threw my computer out the window.

Lately the only game that has made me go into a fury of swearing and control smashing is Ninja Gaiden II, on the unlockable difficulties.

Lets just say there is something beautiful, poetical and at the same time soul crushing when the enemies can kill you with full health within five seconds... its just precious... but in the end it makes them tearing them appart most satisfying... yes...

I might get a bit angry but then I finish it and let it all out and fill the hole with a sense of accomplishment.

i get pissed off when a game has a really hard part that would requires multiple tries for pretty much anyone and the checkpoint that comes before it requires you to go through a long cutscene or walk a long distance or is just in general really far back eg: some bosses in FFX, and a couple places in gears of war 1

Sometimes, like the license tests in Gran Turismo fill me with so much rage.
Fighting games do too sometimes after long periods of playing (mainly due to the pain of my thumb having a huge blister but also from the enemies getting more difficult the more times you lose).

I tried playing the Touhou games. Within two hours I felt like smashing my head against the wall. Anyone who doesn't know what game I'm talking about, check it on youtube. I couldn't go past stage 3 on hard difficulty.(I won't lower myself to play normal.Never!)
