First of all, my personal definition of life is extremely broad. As our billions of cells make up our bodies, without ever knowing that they are part of a greater, intelligent form of life, who's to say that planets or galaxies are not a form of life themselves? Everything that lives will eventually die. So maybe everything that dies is alive. Since we currently know that the Universe itself is sort of dying, maybe he is an intelligent form of life too, changing, reacting, aging, dying. I for one see life everywhere, even in our own Sun, so to even talk of "alien" life is nonsense to me.

And surely, in the billions of planets in this Universe, there must be life forms similar to us, maybe even little grey men. Maybe even superior to us. Maybe capable of travelling to Earth. Maybe capable and willing to rule over us and use us as pets. So, out of the beauty of this image that life is everywhere and everything, we just pick our stupid conspiracy theory that governments are ruled by E.T. and that WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE! Lame...

There'd be a good chance that alien life did exist, but they may already died out or the building blocks of life that would lead to the life most people think of might not be set in motion yet. They could be just like us though. Stuck in their own little solar system wondering if anyone else is out there.

It's probable, and possible. I would bet that microorganisms are out there somewhere. There was some speculation about one of Jupiter's moons, if I remember correctly. When it comes to intellectual beings, either they can communicate with us or it'll be a very long time if we could ever do it ourselves. Otherwise, they don't exist, or aren't advanced enough to see us which makes it a nonissue.
