I think you are mistaking Intelligence and Wisdom. As any D&D/dictionary fan could tell you, intelligence is just general reasoning and problem solving skills. Wisdom is the synonym for knowledge.Branches said:As with a thousand other things, I consider the conversation of intelligence on the internet one of specific skill sets. Forums are great places for some debate, but not all. There are plenty of us here who know more about Warhammer than Bob McDobb knows about Wing Commander. We all have our specific subset skills and knowledge tickers, but for the most part we're just like anyone else.
We know a specific set of things based upon our interests. At times we find it easy and simple to voice our opinion to those who understand the same set of things, other times we have to dumb ourselves down to explain it to others not of the same knowledge.
I don't consider myself intelligent to any sort of degree past what I know. I can't tell you who played 2nd Wide Receiver on the 2003 Detroit Lions team, but I can tell you the name of that guy who used to do that thing in that movie you're talking about.
Yes. That one. It was Harvey Keitel.
Yeah, me too. People often tell me that I'm pretty damn smart, but I sure say and do a lot of dumb things.Erana said:I'm both overwhelmingly bright and a bit... dim. Absent-minded, rather. A high INT stat but low WIS, I guess.
How does that make you a pretentious asshole. If you try and dazzle people with your intellect to make them like you, then you are a pretentious asshole.SimuLord said:Do I consider myself intelligent? Of course.
Do I consider myself "an intellectual"? Hell no. I'm not a pretentious asshole, for starters.
