To tell you the truth, I have an easier time becoming more attached to fictional characters than I have actually people. (I even wrote Kevin Flynn a ulogy after seing T:L, pretty sure he died.) I guess you know more about them, and it's easier to get attached to something that can only really judge you based on your in-game actions.

Oh I admit that sometimes I feel a greater attatchment to fictional characters than I do actual people. Few of my heroes are living. Just not a romantic one.

The Heroes I have that are real, people wouldn't recognize their names anyway, why? They aren't characters, they're real Heroes that's why.

By the way, it's sweet, but why did you write a Eulogy for the User?? You can't derez a User!!

Well . . . see that's kinda been a bit of a debate amongst the fellow video warriors (Tron nuts). The whole recombining with Clu thing, it sounded like it involved derezzing.

Who knows. Alot of hope is up for his return however.

He's calibrating, sorry. Pixel men are strange. I have a fangirl thing for Joker even though I have never liked rl celebs. Part of me thinks becuase he's not real he can't act like a dick and let me down. I find that comforting. Not that I'm bitter...okay maybe I'm bitter.

Well you know he does kind of get thrown on the floor during the collectors cut scene and he's fine. Also there's such a thing as being gentle lol. I know someone who has a similar disability irl and they are complete womaniser. Not to mention that sex isn't exactly mandatory in a relationship.

I don't understand why people are like that you do realise you could KILL Garrus and Tali with your bodily fluids right? Meh now I just sound like a rampant fangirl. But it's pretty wierd that people are okay with shagging aliens but can't work around a disability...kind of shallow and worrying in fact.

1) At least in Bioware games, the romances are option.
2) I don't feel silly. The romances (and the freindships), for me, add great depth to the game--and raise it to the next level.

-My relationship with Anders in DA2 was pretty epic.
-My relationship with Morrigan in DA:O had me feeling like the protagonist in a film noir. She had femme fatale written all over her...yet I couldn't quit her.
-I built this great relationship with Ashley in MA1...but then I started regretting it as some of her bigotry started showing...but I felt like I should see the relationship through...which a really cool experience that I rarely see in games.
-In MA2 I resisted Miranda because of Ashley...until Ashley said what she said to me at Horizon. After Horizon it seemed to me that Ashley and I were through...so after some time, Miranda and I ended up getting together...and right afterwards I get a letter of apology from Ashley...now what's going to happen in MA3? I'm a tad nervous.
-KotoR2...I think I romanced Visas...but in that game I was mostly obsessed with Kreia...I wanted to get her approval so badly...yet I was also a big boyscout...so that was fraught.
-KotOR1...in both my playthroughs, my romance with Bastila and my romance with Carth were both epic and really led to some great emotional moments.
-I always had fun romances in Fable.

The romances are great! So too the friendships!

I have to say, having just finished Fallout 3 previous to playing Dragon Age 2, what was really missing for me was the ability to forge friendships/romances with anyone in the game. It was a cool game...but it all felt a bit impersonal.

I want my deep friendships and/or romances.

Well I didn't go for either of them.
Besides, I think he broke some stuff when he got knocked to the floor, but just patched it up with medi-gel. He said he thought he broke a rib or two when it happened.

No part of me feels silly, it's the biggest reason (indirectly) I play Dragon Age.

I think the purpose of Role playing is entirely lost once you enter that line of thinking.
I completely shut myself out.
Once I load up that file I am Fey. I'm a well meaning, carefree, idealistic, freedom before justice, Rogue with a sense of humor and a knack for messing up relationships due to an overly romantic and selfish view of love.
Some would sooner describe me as evil, merciless, and cruel. I can't deny blood in the right color (my enemy's usually) makes my day that much better.
For that play through of Dragon Age the first:
I never took off my wedding band, it may have been an arranged marriage but I know he was a lovely man. Maybe I'm to sentimental but I felt it was more powerful than any of the other enchanted rings.

Morrigan was my best friend, like a sister I never had, we disagree on some things, she doesn't understand the way I cling to friendship and love, I know she values it though.

Alistair was my newly found compass for what I should consider right but couldn't bring myself to follow, the love I wanted but couldn't have because every choice I made pushed him farther away.
We're still good friends, being with him is great... But I can't shake the feeling that he sees a dark terrible evil embodied by the power and willfulness I command, always keeping him an arms length away.
That perhaps inside, he's afraid of me. Maybe more so because of how well I get along with him, like I don't carry a weight of guilt, or my face is free to lie straight even to those I'm closest.

yeah I also held onto my wedding ring! I cant remember if I sold it later, mabye because I was letting go and wanted to get with alistair.... perhaps I was holding onto it more out of guilt than loyaty or love...no probably because I wanted money

but yeah I liked it how somthing as simple as having your wedding ring in your inventory could create such an emotional reaction

also with morrigan...she was a ***** and all but for some reason I was always nice to her..and respected her in a way, even Miranda from ME2 I guess bitchy charachters dont bother me much..

I don't feel silly but I don't see much of a point to it for myself. I'm not going to say it shouldn't be there since it can help with immersion if done right. I usually don't get attached to most video game characters to care enough to try and romance their pixels and generally tend to avoid romance in games anyway.

The Relationships in Dragon Age 2 were pretty good i liked how they "hooked up" half way through the game, then have to either keep them going, or crush the person.
it seemed silly in Mass Effect, as the relationships started at fixed points.
I think it should start not by your choice, but by if they like you

well you never know, I wouldnt be so surprised if they made him a romance option in ME3

then again I doubt it...he just doesnt seem into shepard, plus it would be a little weird...first kaiden....then thane or Garrus....then Joker....would be hard to make it not feel like a casual hook up

then again Thane could die....break it off with Jacob as that was "casual"...Garrus...mabye as well and with Kaiden there was a valid reason there

I doubt they will tbh, I think he's meant to be more of a sidekick unfortunately. Plus Seth Green is probably expensive. All of the ME2 relationships seem casual tbh My Shep stayed faithful to Kaiden. The LI's just didn't interest me at all.
