Thread reminded me of this gem, so I thought I'd post it.
Beat me too it haha.

But I kinda got over it in Year 7, and since then Ive become a lot more (and sometimes a bit too) confident with myself, and If anything people like me more for my hair. Nobody really says anything anymore, I think society in general has gotten sick of it.

More north england or south?

Down south they still kinda get insulted up until after you're out of the education system :p

OP:

I find the insult ginger to be funny. So when someone calls my friends ginger, i'm like "WELL MATE, YOU SIR, YOU'RE BRUNETTE".

They're usually too confused to say anything else.

Nope, I even accept it; though this is just amoung my group of friends, which contains a fat-ginger, a guy who is more Jewish than actual Jews, an Korean dude, me (the other ginger), and a roughneck. Busting eachothers balls when together is a common occurance.

Nope.

Probably has something to do with me having brown hair.
Aw man! I was going to say that.

Anyway, nicknames can be a bit annoying, even if they're not meant to be insulting, they're a bit dehumanizing at times.

Yes.

Click on my profile.

That is a picture of me.

For some reason everyone thinks I'm ginger, and it really gets to me... come to think of it, that's probably why they say it XD
Yes you are "red" enough to be classified as ginger in slagging terms and yes they persist because it gives them pleasure to see you annoyed. Sad but some people are like that.

OT: Yes I have redish hair(That sorta strawberry Blonde colour if you want to get technical. Yes it is a colour as my hair is more blonde in the summer and more red in winter.) and no one ever calls me ginger as most twats only do it for pure annoyance and in a hateful and spiteful way. Very rarely do people do it in a joking manner. What annoys me more is the double standard of red haired women being attractive yet people still won't go out with men just because they're ginger. No other reason than that.

Why on earth do they call redheads "gingers" anyhow?

THIS IS GINGER. THERE IS NOTHING RED ABOUT IT!

Not in the slightest. Not even if you squint.

As for me I have brown hair, like all good people. So I'm never called "ginger". However, redheaded girls can be quite lovely. (At this point any cute redheaded girls reading are welcomed to feel charmed.)

'Ginger' used to be a payout for us before it was merely a description. That's why it annoys me.

Don't give a shit like! Never really been called it though even though I am. Maybe it's because of my aura of awesome?

Yes.
Yep, I too have an "aura" of awesome. Though it is more likely the aura of my arm-hair and such. I never understood the whole "ginger thing" that people get on about.

ALSO: Screw these damn video captchas that make you watch an add, Escapist. Next time I get one I will not bother posting or contributing. Especially glaring is the fact my captcha is "Play Xbox Live". Yeah, give me random nonsense again please.

I'm browny-blonde, but people who A: Get insulted at being called gingers when it is not done hatefully and B: People who hatefully call others gingers don't rank high on my respect list anyhow.

It is like me being called blonde, or white, yes, I am, and? Or calling my best friend coloured, he is, and? So calling you (a person with reddish hair who I presume is reading this) a ginger, yes you are, and?

Really people need to stop being offended by everything and stop offending people because of everything.

I do, as it's a great miscarriage of justice when I have blonde hair.

On topic there, I have a ginger friend and he hated it and wouldn't go anywhere without someone else through fear of bullying. He's got very low self confidence now because of the bullying having ginger hair caused him.

South England :)

Really? I personally had no problem towards the end of it all. Around year 10 people just seemed to stop bothering and then Hayley Williams did us all a massive favour and became famous around the time I began 6th form. All of a sudden I found Ginger was accepted.

Then for some unknown reason when I got to uni every other person thought red heads were hot.
