2nd best console after the PS2.
Microsoft aren't bringing anything new to the table so I look to Nintendo, once you sift through the shovelware (of which there is an alarming amount) there are some real gems. Brawl, Mario Kart, Resi 4 Wii Edition (story mode is a bit too easy even on professional but the mercenaries is better with infra red support), Twilight Princess and all the Virtual Console games and Wiiware games. The majority of the people who don't like the Wii are graphics whores, fanboys and/or people who are too selfconcious/lazy to put any physical effort into playing.

Edit: Just to add a few more titles, House of the Dead, Umbrella Chronicles, all the good Gamecube games thanks to perfect backwars compatibility, Mario Galaxy, Wii Sports (the best party game since Worms 3D), etc.

Edit Edit: I have noticed that some of the games I have listed do kind of contradict the whole 'bringing something new' thing but...but...fuck you!

Edit Edit Edit: It would be the best console if it could get some decent FPSs, the Wii pointer has great potential. It'd be awesome if they could port the Orange Box, I'm sure the Wii has enough power to run the source engine to a reasonable level.

Edit Edit Edit Edit: I make it my personal mission to set fire to everyone who uses the term 'casuals' in relation to gaming. If you take it seriously then you're just sad.

I don't hate my Wii per se, but it does disapoint me that I havn't played the damn thing in months. There havn't been any real worthwhile games that have caught my eye so far, and if they did, my friend got them, I borrowed them, and I ended up bored with them.

I don't know why, but whenever I play a game on the Wii, I put it down in a week or two regardless of if I'm finished with it or not. It happend in Twilight Princess, it happend with Brawl, it even happened with Okami. Freakin' Okami!

MadWorld and the Conduit do look interesting though, but I'm really annoyed that the only reason why I'm actually interested in them is because one is ultraviolent sadistic joy and the other is a bloody FPS! The Wii promised to give me something other than bloody-FPS-gray-bleak stuff you see on the other consoles!

So, I'm just disapointed with it. It's a good console for what it's worth, but I guess it wasn't meant for me. Same thing with my DS really, infact any Nintendo product I've owned. Strange, my PS2-PS3 had PLENTY of play time. Guess I'm just a Sony boy at heart ;)

Sometimes I stare at that sterlie looking box and think why the hell did I buy you? The problem was that all the first party games that Nintendo insist of making only one per generation of now have all come out and because Nintendo is stingy when it comes to shelling out for thrid party titles we have a game drought. Damn you caual gamers and your incompitence to play proper video games lol.

Thought to what else?
Third party developers for one.
They've been given tons of opportunities to release big games with no Nintendo releases around to alledgedly steal their sales yet all the third parties do is dance around like a modern videogame AI repeatedly hitting their head against the wall and wondering why they can't lift a bus with their nose. Nintendo has already shoved that horse head first into the water and it's still refusing to drink while complaining about thirst.

For all the talk about "casual" gamers there sure don't seem to be many games to show for it. How many "casual" games did Nintendo make? Four? Wii Sports, Play, Fit, Music with two of these being pack-in titles?
Depends on what you mean by 'casual.' I consider all the mini-game nonsense to be casual games, because there's no depth to them. And lets face it, its those 4 games that really moved some Wii's.

Sounds like someone is trying to defend Nintendo. Let's face it, its quite hard to make a game on the Wii that doesn't feel ill-fitting, contrived, or gimicky. Only a few have pulled it off. Game's by Nintendo that fall into this category don't count, because they sure as HELL better be able to make some 'par games for their system.

Edit: Maybe I should clarify. "Sounds like someone is trying to defend Nintendo" here is a sarcastic feigned-jab.

Nah. I hate the developers, and Nintendo for not fully using there own machine. When I heard about Wii Fit, I lost a lot of hope. A view games do get past the crap like No More Heroes and Trauma Center: New Blood. Just enough games have come out to make it worth $250, but it could do so much better. I do recal Nintendo saying sorry for the lack of traditional games announced at E3 '08, so I will delay final judgement till E3 '09.

Halo 3 = Nothing new + crap.
PS3 = expensive, no good exclusive games, no longer backwards compatible.
Adding friends online = stupid, get some real friends who know where you live.

Spaz91, I'm afraid I'm going to have to disagree with you on the idea that the PS3 has no good exclusives. Killzone 2 may not be a "Halo killer" but I had a friend who has only a 360 and a Wii and he stated that it was the best shooter he's ever played. And there's others like MGS4 and upcoming God of War III. As for the Wii being a disappointment, I don't own one personally, but I know that whenever I'm with friends who own one, we never seem to play it. We always play 360 or PS3 instead. I would assume this is because we just have more fun playing other things.

This.

Do I hate my Wii? Absolutely not. I think it is a first rate system, definitely a worthy competitor for the 360 and PS3. I own about 9 games for it and I do love these games and gladly replay them because they are just fun. The problem isn't the Wii...it's the fact that there only about four more games out already for the Wii that I want but don't have. Recently things have been taking steps in the right directions. There are more games that are more than just gimick and have some deep and well thought out gameplay. I love the Wiimote. Whether a game uses motion controls or not, I love being able to keep my hands more than two inches apart when playing a game. The wiimote-nunckuck system is pretty comfortable and easy to manage.

I don't have a Wii but that doesn't mean I dont like them. Then again I don't want one but I don't see the need for one. I have seen one being used and I have seen it being a lot of fun at parties.

Wii is good because it's a great bordem killer and a great way of doing something else than using an xbox or Ps3 controller. It's also in my opinion the greatest party system because anyone can take part. Wii also first thought of the avatars so it is win. I know you shouldn't really include the price as a feature to a quality console but it is more affoardable than the PS3.

So quit bashing it!

No, I am quite content with the tiny white box, mostly because of metroid, mario, zelda, NMH, Madworld, Deadly creatures, Mariokart, and My hoard of Gamecube games. not to mention all of the virtual console games

You must not have any of the decent games if you are disappointed. Shame how the majority of people can go along with one other person and turn an opinion into idealized fact. The Wii, no matter what anyone says, has A ton of strong titles for it, and saying that it's a disappointment without playing all of the games that make the system worth it is simple closemindedness, and one perpetuated by people who have been spoiled by brown, "perfect" graphics. Metroid prime 3 looks better than many games on the other Next-gen platforms, and still y'all harp on and on. Geez. Nintendo is the one who is using the Wii for what it was meant to be. They've released hardcore games, many of them, and yet people still harp! Seriously, what's the POINT? So they've released a few casual titles that you're not interested in, Don't sell it, because there are more than those titles out. Nintendo's direction is not casual or hardcore, but both, and it is the developers and publishers who have made the system seem casual. Nintendo has been nothing but good to its system. It's the devs and publishers fault for doing the opposite. Of course there are exceptions...

Nintendo had to get rid of its seal of quality... That's the damage done by the developers who don't try. Don't blame nintendo. Blame the people who don't want to take chances. And Praise the people who do, like Suda51, or platinum games. And especially SEGA, who are trying so very hard for quality publishing, that they've forgotten their own series.

I say this as a fan of the original Killzone and a fanatic of the first three MGS games: Killzone 2 and MGS4 both failed epically. Killzone 2 was boring beyond belief with incredibly sloppy controls and repetetive gameplay. No game has ever pissed me off more or been more disappointing than Metal Gear Solid 4, MGS3 is my favourite game full-stop, but MGS4 made me want to vomit, I'm forced to punch passers by in the streets if I overhear the word 'nanomachines'. The gameplay was shite, the story was shitter and the moustache made me want to cry. I haven't played the God of War series so I can't really comment. I'll admit the only time I play video games with my friends at the moment is on the PC on TF2 but then again I had to sell my Wii games to pay for Christmas presents (I'm not joking, I'm really bad with money.)

Yeah I hear you, and when it gets a Nintendo game its just another remake for an exiting series like Mario and Zelda. Most of the games now all have this thing going with light and dark which is somthing that has been done so many times I wan't to cry.
