Do you have a problem watching girly anime?

I have never a 'girly' anime, it just somthing ive never done am i missing much?

Now Im normally a manly guy. I cant stand watching chick flicks or soaps, but for some reason I dont mind watching anime that is a little on the feminine side. For example im watching one called Toradora. The little girl is soooo cute!!! ..... cough ... I mean shes SEXY!!!! Ok you see what Im mean lol.
So tell me, do you enjoy girly anime?

Wait, hold on a second... Toradora isn't exaclty what I would call "girly" anime, as it is actually labeled as Shonen. You labelling it girly just because it's a romantic comedy or something? D:

I think a lot of the kids posting here believe anything with more than 1 female in it is classified as "girly".

K-ON, for example. All girl cast has to be girly right?

Yeah, that's just wrong. K-ON! was really good and I enjoyed it thoroughly (haven't seen K-ON!! yet though), and was recommended by a male friend of mine, and he said he liked it because of the accurate instruments and playing, but thought it was ok if I didn't watch it because it was "girly". It's proper annoying when people say something is girly just because of the characters... We should make a resistance group!

But back on topic, have you tried reading a manga called Demon Diary? It's pretty well done, it's korean made, it's short, and kind of borders on being yaoi and not. If you haven't, try looking it up.

A manhwa? No, never read any of those...does sound interesting, though. I'll keep it in mind.

And honestly, my only objection to yaoi is the prevalence of rape and unintentionally absurd plots, so as long as it's neither...

Oh man, I can completely relate. Those are my exact same problems with that genre. I can only conclude that the Japanese have a seriously messed up love of rape. Their hentai is almost entirely about rape. Their gay pron is basically all rape as well.

I like my anime the way I like everything else. (why would I watch something I wouldn't usually watch, just because it's drawn by Japanese people?)

Either packed full of action, being centred around something either super natural or occult like, psychologically thrilling and/or depressingly gritty, utterly insane, something with an impossible plot that keeps you guessing until the last second or full of sub plots that are art housish metaphors for real life situations.

I would also add horror but I can't think of one anime that manages to implement horror well.

So no. I do not like girly anime.

In-fact the cutsey type of shit that's full of under-age girls making provocative noises at every possible chance and finding themselves is adult situations... well they anger me.

I hate this whole sub culture of weebo's that has emerged. With this fucking retarded idea that women should have ridiculously high voices, be incessantly annoying, subservient to men and bland.

It disgusts me.

Pretty much this. Also, I think that last paragraph is the reason I probably didn't get any further than FF XIII. Goddamn Vanille.

Ehh. Maybe. Toradora isn't quite the girliest, but I won't touch yaoi with a 90 foot pole. No fucking way. But those animes the OP said, aren't quite the girliest.

If 'Only Yesterday' is "girly anime" then my problem with it was that it is incredibly conservative, equally though it is this conservatism and nostalgia which makes it intereting in terms of themes that seem to occur in much of Japanese cinema.

EDIT: I should probably add I am not a paticularly big anime fan.

I've seen a few. Azumanga Daio was great and, Bottle Fairy was so cute it damn-near killed me. Other than the overly-cute ones, there are the dramas like Suzuka which I like. Not sure if that one counts though...

I tend to enjoy some manga and anime with non-sexualized female protagonists tackling various problems and challenges in their lives, and perhaps find love.

They're usually better than ones with male protagonists, for some reason.
